Hub Nut

Featured Replies

Right, what size is the hub nut on my car, tried every socket available in my garage. was given a 32mm by a reputable garage next to my work as they were adamant it was the same as most VAG vehicles of that year abouts, only to take it home and see i already had one and had failed with it.

Had a look on Lummox's tool thread and it appears to be a 'double hex'.

Can someone give me a definitive answer so i can buy it and be done with it?

Rant Over

Lummox is right, but that's pretty normal.

Got a size?

12 point, 36mm apparrently. The site search found nothing but Google worked. Look for a post from Lummox.

12 point double hex 30mm socket. this is for the rear i believe.

36mm for the front driveshaft nut - I thought I'd got one, but when I checked yesterday my biggest is a 32mm and like you say, that aint big enough!

If you find a good source please tell!

Laser Hand Tools (Tool Connection) do an impact quality deep bi-hex socket 36mm - either look in some tool/car parts places or order in via Halfords - but give them the socket number - you will find it on the Laser Hand Tools website = www.toolconnection.co.uk I think that you will find that item 0954 fits the bill!

Or get one from Skoda, less than £10 iirc and it fits. Most 36mm sockets are too wide.

Cheers for the help guys, never actually found a socket so ended up taking the entire driveshaft and hub out!

The longest CV boot replacement I've ever done and to top it off ,my bike is in the body shop!
