Couple of brake fluid questions

Featured Replies

Two questions:

1. Whats the capacity of brake and clutch fluid required to fill the system in the vRS? I've read conflicting posts on here that suggest anywhere between 600ml and 2 litres and the Haynes manual doesn't mention the quantity, only the spec

2. What type of ABS is fitted to the vRS as the pattern of bleeding depends on whether it's the M60 or M45 I think?

Cheers

careful bleading the brakes as i gather pumping the brake pedal can cause damage. Unit 18 did my clutch and brake fluid not sure on quantities though

I've got a pressure bleed kit so won't have to touch the pedal - reading GarryCs recent thread where he shafted the seals in the servo/master cylinder put me off trying to do it the traditional way! :thumbdwn:

You also have to be very carefull, as its possible for air to enter the ABS chambers and then its very difficult to get it out.

You should bleed at least 250ml of clean fluid past each nipple, so I reckon you'll use around 1.5-2 litres for a full change. Start furthest away from the master cylinder and get closer to the master cylinder on each one.
