2.0 TDI strange sound from the turbine

Featured Replies

Guys, I'm confused with a strange noise from my Okty 2 , 2 TDI.

It appears when shifting gears up at ~ 1800 - 2200 rpm after hiting the clutch I can hear the turbo slowing down for ~2 sec. The noise is so noticeable that it could be heart from the back seat with radio switched on. It apeared for the first time two weeks ago and happens now more frequently. Just to specify it does not sound like whistling but more like whine.

I went to Skoda dealer who didn't sound re-assuring at all. They do not know anyting about this noise but refused even to test the car, they just plug the computer and stated that the car computer does not return any errors.

Does anyone has an idea what could it be?

For the record last oil / filter change was ~7 000 kms ago with 507.00 oil.

Please help

Sounds like your turbo maybe about to die which is quiet common with the 2.0TDi.

Just an update if some one is also concerned.

I've tested some VW machines also with 2.0 DTI 140 engines and looks like this sound is completely normal. This is a discharge of the air, which occurs only at ~2000 rpm. It could be heart on DSG versions also when shifting at 2000 rpm.
