MDI (Mobile Device Interface) & IPOD

Featured Replies

All guidance welcome-

I have just ordered a Superb Elegance with MDI & Ipod Adaptor - My understanding is that this allows the IPOD to be operated via the Columbus Touch Screen and charges the IPOD at the same time.

Given that the Columbus unit appears to provide TV & DVD does this mean that if I attach an IPOD Touch 2G which carries Music & Video that the video content can be played and displayed on the Columbus Screen?

Does the IPOD control on the Columbus Display mirror the IPOD screen on the Touch?

All things being equal the music must clearly work otherwise the whole thing would be a waste of time so the video would just be a bonus.

You dont get video, only audio. Navigation of the music is exactly the same as navigating as if the music was on the columbus HDD.

Does Columbus have any extra connections, VIDEO IN, for example ? If it does, then you can buy this :

Apple Composite AV Cable

and connect video to columbus, and sounds via AUX.

Then, you can watch iPod videos.....

Yes, columbus doea have a video in function via the standard red/white/yellow connections. You just need the appropriate interface, but these tend to be reliant on your columbus having the correct (older) firmware installed.

Hi Modorator

Can I ask when you ordered the interface as my dealer tells me that it has been withdrawn due to compatibility issues and Dension themselves tell me it will be 2-3 months before it is ready.

The car was ordered on the 18th July - I would hope that if there was an issue I would have found out by now - but then you never know I have not yet received a build date yet.

As and when I get the info I will try to get a spec sheet and I will let you know. I have to say in this day and age I find it surprising that the whole ordering/production system cannot provide an instant build/projected delivery date. I was advised 8-12 weeks from order - fingers crossed.
