Pillar Trim - Black Car - Worth it?

Featured Replies

As above really.

Is it worth tracking down a set of the Skoda B Pillar trim parts for a Black Magic car?

I think it'd still give a nice effect as the trim is matt, or satin finish so the lack of reflective shine would make them noticeable?

And also, If I can only find the kit for the estate will the b Pillar parts still fit.. they should, shouldn't they?

Just use matt/satin finish vinyl instead!

More of a faff to fit but more cost effective!

Though not much point on black though, Doubt anybody would notice I'm afraid!

I would ;)

I wouldnt bother on a black car TBH.

Black cars get around the doors and the rub strips . . . b*****d's

If you can find a set of them - Im after them!

i'd say go for it, i done mines gloss black but satin black would go with the rubbers and blend them in nicely.

I have two sets of the genuine skoda ones :D

They cost me a fortune though. Bought two in case something goes wrong when fitting them.

Once I have fitted mine and not f***ked them up, there will be a set in the for sale section ;)

If you don't mind me asking.. how much is a fortune? :)

£30 a set! Imported from CZ but UK retail was £14.

I paid £7 delivered for a genuine set the other month, a Skod specialist had a few sets left, but I've looked and can't find their details anywhere!!

I fitted them, and they are a right pain to fit, I couldn't get them to sit right, so in the end I took my car to a local graphics place and they supplied and fitted for £10!

na dont bother

Not going to do this now..

You've all made me see sense! ;)

It was a hang over from my last (green) Fabia.. always wanted them on that but the interior was cream (elegance) and it never seemed right with a cream interior.. would have looked to busy with the non tinted windows. Then I wanted a red vRS and naturally they were on my wish list for that.... but I changed my mind and bought a black vRS to (as DayVe says) get around all the black plastic showing up! But undoing any need to get these trims bits.

The grand plan in my mind would be to get a late Elegance cream dash, console and door cards and get a cream leather re trim of the vRS seats... but I tells you what.... that aint ever gunna happen! lol! would look great though as the later elegances had allot more black plastic then the earlier all cream ones.

Nom-nom-Nom-nom....

I'm eating my words...

Just ordered a set!

It's all Woolfy's fault! He pointed out that all other VAG brand cars have them, including any black ones... Will post pics when on so people can see if it was actually worth it on a black Fabia, or not.

You know you want to:thumbup:

You can pretend you're in a black R32 or S3 then:rofl::rofl:

There's a good fitting guide in the Octavia 1 forum to follow (I can't do a search at the mo as I am at work at the mo and the bandwidth is toooo slow), and the instructions with them are suprisingly easy to follow.

My tips are:

Don't do it in high winds (you end up with them sicking to themselves, and a crease when you can eventually get them apart:mad:).

Make some tracing paper blanks of the trims and try these for fit first so you can see where you need to start and what edges should run where. (I didn't, and of course the second time around on the other side of the car fitting was much easier)

Make sure the door is absolutely clean (including the back side of the pillar where the vinyls wrap round), after you have removed the rubber trims as there is an amazing amount of grot hidden under them.

Try and use something such as masking tape to hold the wrapped around edges onto the backside of the pillar, because they try and unstick themselves if you don't.

I can confirm that they are a right pain to fit - Good luck fella:thumbup:
