Fabia for

Featured Replies

How about a Felicia? You could get a decent late plate low mileage one for less that that. They also hold their value very well.

That would be my recommendation too if you are set on a Skoda.

£1k will get you a top notch Felicia or a ****ter of a Fabia.

This one and This one I found having a brief look on auto trader, But i suspect you have seen em already:thumbup:

Another thought the last Felicia that was produced i believe was the MAGIC spec that had all the extras on them, some were even fitted with air con:)

Thanks!.. Yeah, have spied a couple of Magic Felicia's already... :D

Is a faulty pedal box really FOC at VW on a Lupo?

Pedal box is FOC from VW :)

Agreed , they are a problem but easily spotted when viewing the car. As is 1.0L head gaskets again easily spotted.

The Arosa or Lupo are an excellent choice for learner drivers, cheap on insurance, tax and fuel, even better is the diesel models. The 2 models in MK1 form are built in the same factory at Wolfsburg so only the badging and grill are different. The build quality is as good as larger VAG cars and it's hard to find a rusty one. Boot space is a problem, but hey it is a small car and the other teeny weeny cars have small boots as well. Wife & daughter go to do the weeks shopping and when the rear seats are dropped it seems much bigger than other comparable cars.

Fabia for £1k I don't think so, at least not one thats worth buying.

The Lupo is basically a shortened Polo. The Fabia is based on the next generation of Polo, so it is a more modern car.

well thanks for that pearl of wisdom:rotz:

i've had nothing but trouble from my fabia, bits falling off it left right and centre, and i've owned 7 lupos now in total and pretty much every type of polo/golf going. and in my lowly opinion the lupo is a far better car than a fabia.

in reference to power steering and abs on a felicia, not all of the glxi models have power steering and abs, it depends on what year it was built. my 1.6 glxi hatch (now with 2.0 hiding in there) does not have power steering or abs...

fwiw you should broaden your search a little and get something reliable like a honda oa toyota

Isn't that a bit cheap? or is it low spec?

well come October, I will be looking for a quick sale, for 1500.

upgraded cd player included.

so i can move onto a VRS.

Yeah, they've not been ruled out, and ABS is seaming difficult but not impossible to find on a Felicia... well, on any small car in this price range actually.

Rach is a VAG girl through and through. That's firstly my fault for teaching her that cars aint just cars! They're beautiful wonderful things to behold ;). And secondly she fell in love with her 1st car. A work colleague said she could have his 90G Mk2 Golf Driver (dark metallic blue).. It would have been gorgeous but it had over heated, and then out of desperation he'd driven it home with no water and then left to seize for a few months.. it was very very dead. He only offered it because he didn't know how else to get rid of it! It was a beautiful car though. We went over and the AA man spent 3 hours trying to get it to go (and he was a good AA man, seemed very happy to take on a challenge rather than plug in a computer and tow it somewhere like they seem to get now)...

In short, it was dead.. she never drove it and it was hers for about 7 hours.. still, it broke her heart!

VAG cars aren't and never will be "beautiful". :D Apart from the new scirocco...

Eye of the beholder! ;)

I hate the new Scirocco.. it's all bulbous!

Is that the black one with the mk5 gti wheels and lexus back lights?

I've already seen that, and If I'm completely honest... the minute I saw the wheels and lights I ruled it out.. Didn't even read the discription in depth.

You'll get more if you put the original wheels back on and the original back lights. Even if you don't have the Skoda wheels trims. People buying in this end of the market don't want mods.. especially ones that mean future maintenance (tyre) costs will be high.. That way you can sell the wheels separate to the car and even if you only get £50 for the wheels, I gaurentee it'll be £50 more in total (on top of what you get for the car) then selling them on the car.

Not having a go, just offering a helpful hint.. original looking cars always sell better and quicker for more money! :) I'm your average customer ;)

EDIT: Just read the description and it sounds like a sweet buy, and you have the original lights and wheels.. I strongly advise you fit them all and take new pictures! :) It'll sell quicker too!

Thanks for the advice, I was a bit torn as to whether keep it modded or not as I don't want to give the impression that its a ragged boy racer car when it isn't.

Gettin a LOT of interest on ebay, Iv got to schedule in 3 viewings 2mora, its quite stressful, people are actually squabbling over whether they can view it first lol.

Im just goin see what happens but if Im not happy with the price then I can always pull it off and relist as standard.

Nice to get the opinion of someone who doesnt know me or the car, as you will think what most people think

You could actually get a decent Polo 6n or even a 6n2 for £1000!

  • 1 month later...

I got my 1.9TDi Elegance for £675, replaced the steering pump, wishbones, bushes and 2 tyres. With a new MOT total cost a little under £1000 and about 3 hours of my time :D Also left me with a set of vRS alloys which are sitting on my Corrado ;) but I would think they are worth £150 so under £850 for the car :D I love finding a good deal.

I saw that Green Fabia when it was for sale.. Glad it's gone to a good home and been fixed up :) (not that it looked like it needed much in the way of fixing)... How do you find the interior? I really liked it (when I had the same car with a 1.4)

The interior has grown on me, I wasn't all that keen on it to start with, but I've become attached to the 'running men'.

I got my Fabia MPI for £1500 with 60k on the clock. Not long after the coolant pump failed, then 4 months later the pipes sprung leaks (probably related), shortly followed by the power-steering going, then the classic temp sensor and finally when I had my front bumper off I found damage to the crash bar....

I still love my baby though
