Car Phone Sound Quality Problems

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I am a newbie to Skoda and to this forum, so sorry if I do any gaffes.

I have a Elegance 170 DSG with the RSap phone installation.

When I am using it, I have had numerous people complain about the sound quality being "tinny and echoey ".

Does anybody else have any experience of this, or any thoughts?

Many thanks

Nope, my feedback has always been that I'm "crystal clear, as if not in a car at all" !

HI

Welcome to Briskoda.

I have the GSMIII with RSap and I have had no reported sound problems from my calls.

all car phones sound a bit echoey. i guess its all about perceptions and experience. One person may call it an echo if its not as good as a land line. call yourself and record your own voice on an answerphone and listen to it to see what you think.

Thanks to all for your comments.

Tried what jcblincs suggested and the quality drops of dramatically at speed.

At slow speeds it is very clear but when moving it is almost as if there is a noice cancelling mechanism that cuts out the background hum but also distorts the voice.

I will chase up the dealer again and see if i can get them moving.

Thanks again

Never had any problems with the sound quality of calls to or from the vehicle. Using a Nokia E71 with RSap.

It could be that the auto-increase in volume of the Columbus unit as speed rises is causing distortion. Try turning that down or off and re-test.

Ray.

Use mine all the time and people coment that they cant tell if i am in the car or not obviously not a 70 but great in normal use same Car and Nokia 6300

All car kits have noise cancelling that works at all speeds. If they did not then everytime you spoke you would get feedback through your own speakers, what seems to be happening in your case is that the level of interior noise rises as you go faster and this is tripping in the noise cancelling function as the system thinks your talking.
