Increased "feedback" after new front suspension

Featured Replies

Hello,

I recently replaced (with standard items) the front suspension coils, shock absorbers, top strut bearing, top axial bearing, arb bushes & brackets, on my 2004 Octavia TDi.

I then had the suspension and steering geometry checked and aligned at Nigel Ladd's garage who has one of the Hunter DSP6000 alignment machines.

Since then I am experiencing, what I can only describe as increased "feedback" through the pedals and steering wheel. By "feedback" I am referring to the fact that I can now feel every single road imperfection - stones, pitted tarmac, tiny bumps and dips. The overall ride quality is fine but the increased feedback does not feel "normal" espeically as I have replaced the suspension with equivalent standard items and not uprated ones - at least I hope that is what I was given by the parts shop.

Some petrolheads may jump at the chance of increased feedback, but it just does not feel right in a standard Octavia TDi! Is there a period whereby the suspension would need bedding in?

Any ideas, thoughts, suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Darren

Any time i've had anything done to my front steering/suspension, its always been blissfully obvious from the second i get back in the car.

As with most things in life, your steering/suspension both lose a lot of feel over time, and its only when you replace stuff, that you actually notice.
