Lack of power

Featured Replies

Got a problem where there is a lack of power above 2250 or so RPM

I have had it scanned for fault codes and nothing is stored, no warning lights on dash, no noticable difference in smoke coming from the exhaust ( basically no smoke ) had a quick check under the bonnet and cannot see any hoses that have come loose or split.

Vehicle is a 2001 Fabia 1.9 tdi comfort with ATD engine code.

Anybody any ideas what it could be??

disconnect the MAF sensor plug, then give it a road test, any improvement will suggest your MAF is faulty

Will give it a try on the way home tonight

Tried this and made no difference - anything else to try/ check?

I've got a feeling this might be expensive to repair

Blocked/dirty air or fuel filters.

+1^^^ or blocked/malfunctioning EGR valve, vacuum leak. After that, compression test to check head gasket/valves etc.

all filters changed around 9000 miles ago, would they really be blocked?

If they are blocked would the exhaust be smokey?

Ric04vrs you were spot on, got someone to check with vag com and MAF is reading incorrectly causing poor performance.

Gave the turbo a clean bill of health which was a relef as I was expecting the turbo to be the fault
