Colerne Airfield Open Pit Track Day 05/10/2009 -

* Free tuition applies if we get 10 bookings from this forum!

Following on from the successful track day on 31st July at Hullavington, I'm looking to organise another Briskoda group booking with Motorsport Events for a track event at Colerne Airfield on 5th October 2009.

What is this day?

The day is a "track day event" held at Colerne Airfield on Monday 5th October 2009 which is located here - you can see the track layout here. This is a day where car enthusiasts can drive briskly without worrying about policemen, pedestrians or other normal road hazards. It is not a competitive day and racing or competitive timing is strictly prohibited. This will all be explained in the drivers briefing on the day.

Are there any rules or restrictions I should know about?

- There is a noise limit on the day of 100db (A) which will not be a problem unless you already know (and I'm sure you will!)

- Arms and legs must be covered at all times during track driving.

- Helmet use is compulsary - helmet hire is available on the day! I would recommend open face helmets if you are thinking about buying one for future track days.

What do I need to drive? What about passengers and extra drivers?

- All drivers must hold a current, valid full drivers license.

- Extra drivers for each car cost £20.00. I believe this allows you to drive anything you want that is there on the day.

- A passenger pass costs £10.00. This entitles you to passenger laps in any car you want!

- EVERYONE in the car must wear helmets AT ALL TIMES. Only ONE FRONT SEAT PASSENGER is allowed at any one time, but you can book in more than one passenger in your booking.

What's the deal with the Briskoda Group Booking?

- We can book as many or as few in as we like - just mention Briskoda.net (Skoda Owners Club) and you will be associated with the group booking.

- The day will cost £99 regardless of how many people we book in.

- If we get 10 people booked in, every main driver will get 20 minutes of free track tuition.

- You don't have to own a Skoda, you can turn up and drive any car you want!

- Feel free to tell your friends about it and allow them to associate themselves with this booking. They don't necessarily have to be a member of Briskoda! But if you could add their name to this list it would be great!

- We have 10 reserved slots until Friday 11th September 2009, until that date we can definitely have 10 places. We can always have more but the other slots are available to the public too!

I want to participate, who do I pay, how do I book?

My advice would be to book over the phone - see www.motorsport-events.com for details, ask to book in for the 5th October Colerne Airfield day and mention "briskoda.net (Skoda owners club)" or my name - "Ed Yarnold". To have one of the guaranteed 10 places I have reserved for Briskoda members you will have to book and pay before the 11th September deadline. You can still book after that date, but you are not guaranteed a place!

- If everyone attending could book in and pay before Friday 11th September 2009 that would be great. People will be able to book after this date, but Briskoda reserved places are no longer guaranteed!

Please post in here if you have booked in and we can keep a running tally of how many people from here are going!

Potentially YES. :) Looks a bit twistier than Hullavington?

Exactly my reason for choosing it, I find Hullavington a bit easy now I've done it twice, haha

1. yegnold - Fabia vRS or BMW 328i, not decided yet, definite attendee if others join

2. devonutopia - Mongrel, possible attendee

still a couple of straights joined with a hairpin though - god bless runways

can't possibly commit to another day 24 hours after starting the last one but i'll let you know nearer the time

Good luck - it would be cool to see a few of you guys around again :) and I hope the guys who did have break downs weren't put off too much

Another "maybe" from me. Just need a confirmed start day for the new job - would be rude to have the first day off!

Oh, and only if you bring the 328i :P

Not put off at all.

I thouroughly enjoyed my day.

IMHO You have to be prepared for some sort of breakdown/failure the same as you have to be prepared to potentially write yours and someone elses vehicles off should the worst happen.

It's just the way it goes :D

Totally unrelated to the topic, sorry, but god bless the MOD, nearly all the recent trackdays people are talking about used to be military bases and I served on them or got my **** ragged round them in the old days

Long may it continue

Looking encouraging thus far, even though you're all possibles :) Spoke to Ed Moore at Motorsport Events this afternoon - we'd be on for the same deal if we could get 10 together, so £99 per place, if we get 10 attendees (10 separate cars), we can have 20 minutes' free track tuition each :)

Looks like a half opened paper clip to me.

Ed. Monday? this time. I wanna go again. Have to conslut with me boss again, he really is a pain in the xxxx to get an answer. As a Grandad I'll have to stay at a :orb_sleepbed and breakfast for this one. It's bleeping long way again.

Looks a slightly better layout than Hullavington to be honest, and from the youtube clips I've seen, looks a challenge too. Also, as an added bonus, it seems tyre wear isn't that bad either (although knowing me I'll have a slick front left again)

It'll be good to put a face to a forum post Andrew, :)

she's up for another day of understeer fun! :D

she may have also convinced (8) a guy from her work to come along in his Civic Type-R - dependant on him attending and liking the next Hullavington day in a non-partcipating role

and i reckon her dad (9) will probably come along in either his Golf's (PD150 or his immaculate Mark 1)

is it wrong i'm already thinking of doing this one and then Mallory Park at the end of November?! When the track day bug bites it bites HARD!

I would say, can we find out how many spaces are left on this, as we don't want 10 names+ down and then find there's only 8 spots?

  • Author

I'll ring them tomorrow and ask them to reserve us 12 places for the time being, given we already have so many interested parties! There are definitely 10 places at the moment though, at least!
