HPI check confusion

Featured Replies

Just did a check on a car I'm looking at tomorrow, and it's all come back fine, VIN matches plate, V5 info ok, no police record, no finance, not written off etc.

However it does state:

According to our records the vehicle registration number is no longer on this vehicle.

Any ideas what this could actually mean?

I think that it means it's registered with private plates on at the min, and that the original plates will be going back on...

I think mind though....

Right, ok... Seller reckons it's had this plate since the previous keeper?

I called HPI, they're raising an issue with the DVLA and will get back to me. It's annoying that I have to wait longer now! :thumbdwn:

I've called the DVLA, and they've said that the plate I've got is on the car, but it's had a private plate in the past.
