How bloody hard is it to write a film to dvd?!

Featured Replies

I'm trying to write a 700mb .avi file to dvd for my Mum to watch.

I've tried CDBurner XP and Ulead but it just keeps buggering up and the dvd wont recognise it.

can anyone reccomend a free program that actually works?

thanks

Not all DVD players will play .avi.

The only sure way is to convert and master it as a DVD. I don't know of any free software, but Nero 7 will do it.

what format does it need to be converted to?

watching for solutions with great interest.... :D

Try DVD Decytor, I know its old now, but it can do a lot of films, and then will happily burn (either in part, ie. just the movie, or the entire thing inc. menus, subtitles etc) back onto a DVD.

I've tried most of the freebies, but ended up buying convertX to dvd. It works everytime, with no errors and the discs will read on pretty much any dvd player, including PS2's.

Well worth £30.

WinAvi Video Converter will do the job.

Not free , but there are craked copies around if you can't be arsed paying.

.avi can be any number of different formats! DVD is MPEG2, you need to convert it from whatever it is (and at 700mb... I'd say Xvid or divX) into MPEG2.
