Hi all,

Just joined the forum as am looking to upgrade from my 4 year old Ford KA which has failed its MOT twice and is starting to rust already to something fast, economical and reliable.

Just a few questions:

1) where is the best place to get a Fabia VRS for price etc..... (based around Yorkshire if poss)

2) Is remapping the engine worthwhile in a VRS in terms of speed and performance as well as economy? Where is the best place to do this?

3) If you have an accident and/or need to claim on the warranty and have had the engine remapped is it easy to get it changed back asap?

Thanks

Welcome chopz

1) If you want to stick around Yorkshire, I can't help (I'm south of the river ;) ) but check out the dealer review section. Others will no doubt post their experience with their local dealers too :)

2) I haven't had mine done yet, but the 1.9PD engine is very tweakable. A simple remap should bring you up to around 180bhp and loads more torque :D The general concensus is it improves economy, but the car becomes just so much fun, your foot develops a heavy quality to it ;)

3) It depends on who remaps it. Certain tuners (AmD, Revo, Star Performance) either provide / you buy a box that alloys you to do it, or you can get them to do it for you.

Do a search and browse in the tuners section. Revo are handy because they're a tuning company who have resellers so you can probably find a revo reseller close to you. Other companies (AmD, Jabbasport) are located down south. I can't comment on which ones are best because they all have their pros / cons / prices so read around and then decide :) But if warranty is of a concern, I'd deffo get a tuner who allows you to revert to standard. Recent warranty requests have been denied because of the cars being remapped :(

Enjoy the site :)

It's been said before, but relying on being able to revert the engine to standard in the event of an accident is highly questionable and might not be possible. If you fail to advise your insurer of all the relevant information needed for them to assess risk then you have no insurance. Having said that, and going by what owners pretty much unanimously say, the Fabia Vrs is a cracking car to own and excellent value for money. Good luck finding one and welcome to Briskoda. :D

Failed twice and rusting at 4 years old??

Where do you drive it, in the North Sea??
