Noise from front wheel(s)

Featured Replies

Have just been on a longish business trip and started hearing a noise. Not a good one...

On straights and any left hand bends, I am getting a buzzing noise from one of my front wheels - I assume the right because of the direction-sensitivity. To describe it, imagine the noise you get when you run a wheel along the rumble strip at the edge of a carriageway, but higher frequency.

It sounds like a tyre noise but louder, don't think it's bearings.

Any suggestions as to what it might be, or things to try? I've looked at the tyres and there's some wear on the outside edge, but I think that's left over from track use, and the rest of the tread is evenly worn. Plus it's only on one side, so I don't think it can be tracking.

Was going to say bearings.......a droning noise I think.

Easy enough to tell though...jack front of car and try to wiggle front wheels...if movement bearings going.....I think. ;)

Yes will investigate a little at the weekend - got home last night and there was a box of MG spares waiting for me so that took priority :D
