Orbital Polishing Machine

Featured Replies

As we are nearing the end of the summer and I need to get both mine and SWMBO's cars ready for the winter.

I usually polish and gloss both cars with AutoGlym Super Resin Polish and Deep Gloss by hand and am very happy with using these products, however I'm starting to get a little lazy and while I have no problem doing both cars by hand I feel it's time to look at using a polishing machine to help.

I know there is alot to consider with these polishing machines but my budget is quite small and want to make sure I get the best for my money.

I saw this on my last trip into Halfords and it comes with mixed reviews.

Halfords Car Polisher 240v from Halfords Price £29.99 3 For 2 On ALL Car Cleaning Products

Can you add your 2p worth on this polisher and also what polishers you use and where you got them from.

Thanks

Matthew

Matt don't even both 'it won't even take the skin off a rice pudding!'

I have no experience with this sort of thing, but the general opinion on sites such as Detailing World seems to be that you have to spend more to get something that will do a decent job.

So why that is the case - my understanding is that something like this might help with "buffing" off the products. However, I'm not sure it is powerful enough to apply them in a manner that will break polish down sufficiently to do much correction work.

That said, if you are buying it to make the job easier, rather than to get better results, it may be OK.

Matt - just had another idea - do you want to borrow my Kestrel DAS-6 for a couple of weeks?

I haven't polished my car since last march/april time and when it was done there wasn't any RDS marks, the bodywork is very good for the milage (apart from all the stone chips) but I would still like to be able to keep the bodywork in pristine condition, (I spend a whole day just polishing and glossing to make sure it was applyed properly and gave me the result I was after so the machine will also need to repair the minor RDS marks that have appeared over the last year.

Morning, I'll message you a little idea

wouldn't bother.

Love my G220 :)

Pickup a Kestral DA with a polishing pad and keep going with the SRP, then finish it off with a good durable wax by hand. as otherwise your looking to spend a lot of money on stuff and youll find you suddenly become a bit obsessed!

I have to agree, i spent alot on different combinations of products on different cars. Rather addictive if you can get a nice day with some tinnies!

wouldn't bother.
