tons of questions for yo guys!

Featured Replies

Right guys, first off, im new to these forums so pleased to meet you all.

Have a number of questions i need help with and was hoping this may be the place to come to get that help.

I have recently bought a fabia vrs with 50,000 miles on the clock and i want to make a few changes to it, firstly i want it lower, i really dont know where to start looking and what im even looking for to be honest. I dont want anything too drastic, just something that reduces that 'on stilts' look it currently has. I dont have huge sums of money but something thats not too rubbish and something that will last.

Secondly i heard the octavia vrs front disks and calipers are a strait swap on the fabia, is this true?

Thirdly, i have already purchased a cupra front splitter and was wondering how much modification these require to get fitted to the fabia.

Last but not least, i have been warned off getting the engine chipped as it obviously reduces he life of the engine with all the extra strains, and they usually have problems, but was wondering if a remap would get good resuls and if it would cause problems down the line. Also how much more power am i looking at getting ut of the engine without needing a tougher clutch or putting to much strain on it?

thanks for your time guys, look forward to your replies. J.

"We" don't hate questions being asked at all, things just become a bit tedious when the same questions are asked several times per day.

I'm sure you'll find all you need to know about what you want to do.

In answer to your earlier question about a remap. IMHO go for a custom or generic re-map from a reputable company. A good few sponsor this site and often have good offers for members.

I have a Fabia vRS running 175bhp & 290lb/ft from a generic re-map (plus other mods). I am still on standard clutch and turbo with 122k miles on the clock.

OK, in answer to the outstanding queries:

1. please-stop.JPG

2. The cheapest way of lowering the Fabia is to get some lowering springs for it (Eibachs or similar), and keep the original dampers. This will lower the car by 1-1.5 inches, which is enough IMO. However, with 50k on the clock, you may want to save yourself two lots of labour by getting new dampers at the same time, as the originals are probably more than halfway through their lives.

3. The 312mm disks are compatible with the hubs on the Fabia, however you will need new calipers and carriers. They come up from time to time on here or fleabay, or if you're near a garage that does tuning, your may find that they have some off a Mk1 TT or Mk V Golf GTI that's had Brembos fitted.

Hope this helps!

thanks for the replies guys, sorry search option was not used, my bad.

if i bought a set of Eibachs would buying them direct off the site be best value and would everything i need come with it? bit of a novice with fitting stuff etc, a basic service is the limits of my expertise, so will just take them to a local garage to be fitted.
