Has anyone used one of these?

Diesel filler cap

I put £10 worth of petrol in my vRS tonight. The tank was nearly empty and after a quick call to my mechanic mate he advised filling it up with diesel and to keep topping it up.

Maybe adding a lubricant.

I blame the girl who filled up before me, her short dress blew up flashing her knickers ;) took my mind right off re-fueling.

^^^

...Serves you right for perving! :D

That link to the filler cap:

I swear most of the mis-fuelling posts I've read on here usually start with "My girlfriend has" or "My wife has" ...hmm... wonder if they're just too embarrassed to admit it?

Guess no lasting damage then? ...hope not anyway!

Seems OK, bit difficult to start but I expected that. Should be better as I keep topping it up.

The company the RAC put me on to wanted £280 to drain the tank - bloody extortionate if you ask me

put a full tank of U/L in a Mk1 TDi once and drove it till it conked out:eek:. Car ran fine after it was cleaned out bur sold it a couple of months later so don't know if there was lasting damage.

There's any easy way to solve this problem, convert all petrol cars to run on diesel, then there wouldn't be any petrol hoses in the way!

That filler cap thing looks like a good idea, although it seems a bit dear to me,

although I guess they're cashing in on the potential cost of not using it.

:rofl:how about one of those things they sell at helfrauds tills that you stick on the inside of your filler cap, i think they shout something about diesel at you everytime you open the cap

and at £6 its a bargain ....
