Hybrid KKK results

Hi

Yes, 5th can be used, but as you say you would be getting to silly speeds on the dyno.

5th is mainly used under load conditions when actually mapping

Got my Hybrid KKK (S210) back yesterday so fitted it after work (1130) All was going well until I went to put on the bottom boost pipe...doesn't fit, The Turbo housing needed turned about 100*!! not good at 1am! So after much swearing and shouting it was off, turned and back on, built back up. Finished at 330 this moning. Started the car and everything's fine, apart from the EM light's on. Comes on as soon as I start the car. Car's been off the road for about 3weeks so I did the timing belt and water pump while I was waiting for the turbo. Car run's fine, don't really notice a differance as I've not been in it for ages! But taking it to a VAG specialist see if he can out the PC on it see what this light is on for, hopefully a vaccum pipe or something simple....

Phil; Was it the S210 conversion you got?! Also noticed that the inlet housing is now Garrett.

Hi guys,

Im currently having to decide if to go hybrid or not as the cars turbo went this week.

What I want to know however is if the car will run ok with the current Angel Tuning map that is on there, or will I have to get the remap tweaked to suit?

Is it likely I will have to have a full remap again, or just have the fuelling tweaked by them if they are willing to?!

My car's currently running the hybrid with the original Star map, and it's going fine. Need get a clutch sorted first then I'm off back to see Jim Curly about my map see if he'll tweek it or just fully re-map it again.

If you plan more power then I'd say go hybrid and get it mapped to suit, if not just a standard recon would be fine IMO. However it will run fine with a hybrid and original map if you need to save a bit for the map (like me:D)

The thing I suppose that worries me is that using an old map for a fettled with turbo is that the mixture could be too lean, due to the turbo being more efficient? I just dont want to damage the turbo by running the current map.

Also by just fitting a recon standard unit, I dont want the same issue to happen again say a year down the line, hence going for a beefier turbo, as I do like to go on trackdays etc!

map tweak = 100% necessary, but in the short run it will run fine under normal driving with the old map and the new turbo. :)

Been thinking about this too much now, as much as I would love to squeeze more power out of my car, im really not that bothered about it. If I were to get a hybrid, I would still be running the SMIC, is there any point in getting a hybrid if im still using the original intercooler (I dont have the money to go changing to a FMIC). Is it therefore best to get a standard recon unit? I just dont want the bloody thing to go pop again!

Having said that - there was no smoke or anything at the time of the loss of power, I will have to await the cars return, and until a full diagnostics has been carried out. The poor things probably sat on the back of a lorry in Europe still haha.

Not a good idea running a hybrid unit with a std SMIC. You won't be using the turbo to its full potential as you won't be able to get enough air in. You'll also cause the SMIC quite a bit of stress in the process as it'll be quite frequently running to full capacity, trying to keep up with the hybrid :)

Steve

after driving phil`s car last week, i`m going to follow suit and do the same with my fabia. :D Cant wait now, jus gotta get everything else preped for it. Gonna be a while but for "bang for buck" this has got to be the best value for money.

Im quite interested in trying to do a cheaper DIY job for the FMIC, are there any intercoolers in particular that will fit the front of the furby, without having to cut big chunks of the bumper away? Also, what about pipework? £500 for a Forge unit, is just wayyy out of my price bracket.

again phil would be a good person to talk to, or ninja alex i think.

There has been a fair few generic i/c's fitted on VRS's & Ibizas now, the i/c being a couple of hundred pounds but the pipework is expensive. Have a search on Briskoda & Seatcupra.net.

IIRC the Focus ST intercoolers are quite a tidy fitment, also easy to get a hold of and pretty cheap. Pipework can be sorted quite easily. In retrospect I should've done this instead of waiting for my Forge, oh well.

pretty sure the ST FMIC tends to get changed out because it's not much cop
