Motorcycles and dangerous roads

Featured Replies

Speed cameras on the C&F will make negligible difference as far as bike accidents are concerned, they are just using the accident rate as a justification for the cameras.

Where are the cameras located? On the straights.

Where do bikes tend to have accidents on the C&F? Almost always on the corners after misjudging the bend, 'bottling it' or running wide. So how is a speed camera going to make any difference to that?

I sympathise with the locals and yes there are some complete idiots out there. The C&F is a bit of a power ranger magnet y'see. The only ones getting noticed are the idiots and that slants people's perceptions a bit. If I go to bikemeets, I cringe when I see the full-race leather & a sportsbike type giving it all the BS in the carpark. If you're that quick mate, why aren't you racing in MotoGP?

Keeping this in perspective, let's assume that on a bad weekend you have 2 or 3 bike accidents on the C&F (I've only ever seen ONE accident in all the times I've drove or rode it). Compare that to how many riders you get on a sunny weekend and I'd guess over 99% of bikers, despite some obviously riding like ****s, manage to ride the C&F without any incident whatsoever.

Now how many cars use that road, day in day out, 365 days of the year.

Sorry guys, the cameras are there as a stealth tax 'because they can' and they have to be seen to be doing something. In reality they will make no difference at least as far as the bike accidents are concerned. If there is a measureable effect, it will be down to bikers going elsewhere because they can't be bothered navigating the numerous speed traps and unmarked's.

Personally the C&F is one of the last places I would head to at the weekend on my bike purely because it's saturated with other bikes & cars, and all the police attention is there. I'd much rather head to less well-known roads and enjoy riding swiftly and without the attention.:thumbup:
