Relace my FABIA 04 VRS What with

Featured Replies

I need to replace my O4 VRS, I want another Fabia VRS but they do not do one

I have no need or desire for a larger car

I like the torque, I like to drive it I like Derv fuel and I LIKE the price

What other company marques would meet my requirements

The Skoda dealer tells me the new engine in the Fabia II at 105 bhp would be everybit as good as my PD 130bhp VRS

I honestly am lost, trying to work out what car (I am too old really) Corsa Fiesta, Leon, Cupra,Astra vw fox ???

My desire is a like for like Fabia VRS

Regards National

A nice 2007 Fabia vRS SE!!

mk5 golf tdi gt sport?

From my gut intuition, you don't actually want to replace your fabia. ;) I tend to trust my gut instinct when it comes to most things.

I want to replace my Fabia VRS with a Fabia VRS preferably new

Though I am looking at the only available Fabia VRS SE

Rather two year old than none at all ;-)

I have the cash though I can only find one available

Do you reckon a Fabia tdi 105bhp chipped would replace it?

I am not keen on the looks of the Fabia II and where did the Fabia3 come from?

Roomster a professional cut and shut ford fiesta with a berlingo van stuck on the back !

I do have my problems ie it is Yellow which I like, only it is now three shades of yellow

lemon roof, canary yellow spoiler, fuel cap and sprint yellow body

Yep I do not want to replace my FABIA VRS other than age, looks like I am going to have to run it into the ground about six years from now

If you feel the need to change, then yes - the only alternative I can see is the last possible vRS or vRS SE you can find :)

Other than that, looking at the Fabia 2 platform - do you like the look of the revised Ibiza or the new Polo? Both look better than the Fabia 2 IMO.

I have often wondered if I was looking for another car or had to due to mine being written off, then what would I buy?

I would want the same sized car. As I am used to the performance (turbo serge), economy and torque of a diesel then probably still a TDI.

I think at the moment possibly a Fabia vRS SE or a Seat Ibiza Cupra TDI 160. In a few years time then possibly a second hand Seat Ibiza Cupra 1.4TSI or a Fabia Mk II vRS (if it's ever made!).

At least one member has gone from Fabia vRS to FIAT Grande Punto Sporting diesel. They do much the same job on paper, but are seemingly very different in the flesh. It'd be like trading in Jane Darling for Roberta Missoni. Perhaps.

(And no, don't Google them at work! )

:sofahide:

For brand new, how about a Grande Punto? They are really quite nice to drive, and very similar on paper at least. Certainly Fiat in general seem up there with the best of them when it comes to reliability etc :)

Plenty of options like Golf/Leon/C30/Auris/1 series etc but a bit bigger and quite different to the Fabia vRS.

The Alfa Mito is a great car, would need remapping to bring the grunt on par to a Fabia vRS though.

Kia ProCeed looks ok too if you want something different.

To be honest, I would seriously consider a Panda 100.

grande punto sporting 1.9 m/jet, and a remap :)

mine has been more reliable (83k now) than my vRS, and as anyone whos driven with me at a meet, will state its at least as quick as a mapped vRS ;) you get 50 mpg, NCAP 5, blue & me media, ESP ect, very well specced.

To be honest, I would seriously consider a Panda 100.

and the panda 100 is a hoot! but lacks the power above 50 mph ish....

It does?!

GP MJet is a good call with lots of kit, very good running costs and decentish performance (for a diesel ). When I was looking, I ruled it out because it lacked a spare wheel and had very light steering and an obtrusive A pillar.... shame as I was quite keen on them :D

lol... how's the panda going? hope everything is well  (and after my test drive I remembered what a 7,000 rpm red line was! lol...)

Edit: baffles me why they have the citystreeing to make it lighter, should be the sport button like in the panda to make it heavyer!)

Still going very well thanks - 33k in 17 months :rotz: Best dealer network I've used and amazed nothing's fallen off or broken - I was hoping to get more value for money out of the warranty

We test drove a Panda 100HP when we were looking for a replacement for the wifes Ka. The fuel guage dropped 1/3 in 20 miles and an comprimisingly hard suspension; it was like driving on concrete.

I didn't like the GP we had as a hire car as the materials felt cheap and I could not get comfortable for love nor money (same as a megane incidently!).

The boss then settled on the little furby and still don't think they can be bettered!

Looks like the latest FABIA VRS SE that I can find (a bit like hens teeth at the moment) then get it resprayed yellow

Keep it going for the two years I need for a good car, then retirement and just keep it ticking over

I wish I had kept my old tyres (still six mm tread) as they will not take into consideration the brand new pirelli zero neros on the trade in price damn)

Thanks for the input and suggestions, some good points

Please, for the love of God, do NOT respray an SE!

Buy a nice late sprint yellow one with some options and keep it forever :)

But the Furby looks so purdy in the SE Blue

1/3 tank in 20 miles! That's pretty good going and I make that a supercar-esque 8mpg  Worst I've seen at an offroad facility is 26mpg so you must have been seriously going some! Suspension is firm but I guess it depends what you're comparing it to. It's a sporty setup but I've happily driven 3-4 hour stints across A and B roads in it without issue (and I'm a grumpy old man :D).

I might have been pushing it indeed but it was 1/3 tank in 20 miles but it was a cold day which never helps. It was a shame as I really wanted to like it as I love it's tough little stance!

was the tank full? the shape of the tank and the way it measures make it go down fast when its full, but its not eating fuel...

I don't like the lesser verions of the grande punto either, but the sporting is a different kettle of fish, I hated the lesser versions of the fabia I, but loved my vRS ;)
