Whiteline RARB, what setting?

Featured Replies

Sorry for all the RARB posts of late. I know this tpic has been done to death. One last quesiton though!

For all those running the whiteline adjustable RARB, what setting have you settled on?

I started off on setting 2 and it's a big improvement and I'm obviously now curious about setting 3.

Cheers,

iep

Your car will try too kill you in the wet on setting three.

You have been warned lol.

I have a 4 hole whiteline arb. I started on 2nd hardest and it was great but curiousity got the better of me and after a couple of weeks went to hardest.

I love it and have never gone back  definitley recommend you try it and see how you get on.

I must admit , I have mine on the middle setting , always have done

I was told to put mine on to the harder setting , as I have the front one fitted too

But to be fair , I have had so much fun with the middle setting....that I have not moved it at all

Does that make me nesh????

Is that from personal experience fatty5000?

This is something I'm interested in too, I'm guessing the hole closest to the front of the car is hardest? (I haven't unpacked mine yet!)

I've got an R32 FARB too so I might go stiifer... Ooooh err!

Have mine on the 3rd setting (4 hole arb) but will be moving it back down a notch for the winter months.

Better to have it slighty softer in the rain so may will be best just to stick it on the middle setting for all round.

I've just fitted one to my FAbia vRS.

Setting one at the moment, gonna work up gradually.

When I DO change to another setting is it just a case of loosening the "U" bolts and moving to the next hole, thus altering the angle of the drop links?

Or try to re-position the bushes under the beam to suit and keep the drop links verticle?

So, message seems to be (for octavia at least) setting 3 for summer, setting 2 for winter (or Scotland as I call it) and only lunatics use setting 4.

Seem about right?

I was tempted to try setting 3 but not if it is likely to generate oversteer on wet roads.

Just wondering, do those with RARBs on the stiffest settings wear their rear tyres more than usual?

Had mine on 3 for a few months now, was great at first but have got used to it so thinking about trying 4, assuming it has 4 holes, i thought all did? Anyway i cant say ive noticed it being more scary in the wet.

ive got mine on the 3rd hole, thats how it went on lol thats how it lives

def made a difference,

asmuch as it can with the wheels i supose

it seems to be working lol

If you drive like a loon then yes, they will wear quicker as the outside edge will have more cornering forces pushed through it. However, in theory, to match that increased wear at the back, the front wear should be decreased in turn as the front tyres will no longer scrub as much during hard driving.

I fitted mine on setting 3 of 4 (ie nearest the car, the higher the number) on my estate, and it's improved the handling no end. So therefore can't comment on the softer settings.

The many-times photocopied instructions sheet showed a bar with only three holes, so assume at some point three became 4.

Any sign of oversteer on setting 3 (I agree the setting is higher the closer you get to the front of the car)?

iep

The oversteer is caused by lifting off mid corner. And usually when wet.

Its quite amausing when it happens, just be prepared to floor it to pull yourself out of it
