Retrofitting Remote Locking Fitting Guide!

Featured Replies

Hi there after struggling with Jon's guide I decided to clear up any issues that people might have fitting remote central locking kit to their Octavia...

Whether it be a classic, lx, glx etc. I.e the specifications missing the remote locking or thoses who simply wish to replace their locking because OEM keys etc are too expensive.

So I found it rather simple to install, Do not splice into the pin connector in the CCU as you'll just end up frustrated especially as to why the unlock isn't working. This is because your taking the feed off the boot lock and even with resistors in place mine didn't work!

So....

First step remove the driver side door card.... Torx screws T15 I believe on the outer rim of the door card, remove all of them.... pop up the window/locking controls and undo the three gold/brass looking screws.. with a large philips screwdriver. Then lift the card outward slightly as lift it up, becareful not to break the cable or led still connected to the door. The cable simply unhooks from the back of the handle and slides out of the collar and the led simply pops out from underneath.

Once the door card is off remove the waterproof membrane.

Once this is off you will see the small black unit connected to the door handle and locking pin by rods and a series of wires connected to it. Since I'm doing this as a universal guide rather than one exclusively for the Rclick RE60 you'd have to identify the unlock and locking trigger wires depending upon the kit you purchase....

The wires we are interested in here are the white and yellow wire and the black and yellow wire, there are two black and yellow wires.... so to identify which one you need the black is the more predominant colour on the wire you want it has a thick black stripe rather than the other wire which is predominately yellow with a thin black stripe.

Cut the sleeving off these wires and identify which one does what I can't remember with one is lock and which is unlock unfortunately but you can always swap the wires around easily enough...

The best place to put the remote locking module is inside the actual drivers door not under the dash.... most wires connect into the door, the best place to earth the unit is the bottom right window regulator bolt, give it a sand to ensure a good contact and bolt it here.... The positive for your car needs to be fed through the little boot that houses your doors wiring this is important so the positive wire is protected make sure it's in the actual boot and not outside of it!

Remove the appropriate screws in the dash, panel at the side off where the fuses are.... two T20 torx screws out, 2 T25 torx screws out the fuse box and push through, prise out the headlight, unscrew the t20 above where the switch was, undo the two screws holding the plastic panel above the pedals and any other identifyable screws and remove....

The best place to put the positive connection required for your locking module is under the ABS relay (Where fitted) Simply unbolt the 10mm nut and wrap your wire around and tighten ensuring good contact is made.

On both my positive and negative connections I used a large O connector crimped on to fit around the bolts and nut thread..

Remember to solder your spliced connections to ensure a reliable contact and to place electric tape around any bare wires!

I've tried to be as through as I can, any questions give me a PM.

I accept no responsibility for this...

Window Roll Up outputs etc coming as soon as I figure it out!

Oh and if you find locking isn't working! Make sure the drivers door is shut otherwise it won't work! Also make sure your ground and + connections are good and you can hear your relays in your remote locking module clicking!

You may have to splice some wires from your remote locking kit to the negative connection!

No resistors etc needed!

Sorry for any bad grammar, I wanted to this written whilst it was fresh in my mind!

Nice write up :) I am sure it will a few on here :)
