Hi all!! Just thought since I'm doing some homework where better to do it than on the actual forums..

Hopefully I'll soon be in the market for getting a Fabia vRS.. once my other daily (Mazda 6 2.3lSport) gets its sorry little yellow backside off my drive and off to a new owner lol.. want something smaller and with much better fuel economy.. and the Fabia vRS won hands down.. and also seems to be an ideal first car for the GF to learn how to drive properly in too..

I was trying to usher her down the same route I went, i.e Jap cars, from track stripped and prepped Honda Civic EG, Toyota GT Turbo to name a couple, but I think for her she doesn't want hardcore and wants to learn with something more gentle..

I've never had experience with any cars other than Jap, have owned 2 Nissans, 2 Hondas, a Toyota and a Mazda in my time, so this is the first steps into entering a new world for me.. but from everything I have read and heard I can't seem to find a fault with the Fabia vRS.. are there any things I should know before I dive in?

Another reason I've started to fall in love with the Fabia is becuase its a hot hatch and diesel.. not something you see every day, and also it will be viable to insure the GF on it to =) And fuel cost won't hurt me too much.. all I can say is the "other" car has an RB25DET engine.. so it doesn't understand the meaning of fuel economy.. I'd be lucky to see 23MPG from that thing >_<

Anyway any advice and word of welcome will be warmly received and I hope to be an active member on here as I have been in other forums when I had ownership of the respective cars! No doubt once I'm up and running I'll be down at meets so you can match my username to face =)

Hope this hasn't been an exhaustive read but I can go on and on with my life story.. but at that point I think you guys would have passed out hahah..

P.S I've never left one of my previous cars standard, so expect me to be doing tweaks here and there

23mpg is a respectable figure! Can you get single figures from it?

hahah yes I have had single figures from it.. and this is 23MPG on the motorway at 62MPH and keeping an eagle eye on the boost guage and not let it creep up with super discipline from my right foot.. believe me its difficult.. hence why I think the Fabia vRS is the car for me even more so!!

ah men!! But I rather get 50MPH with 50+ MPG than 50MPH with less than 25MPG lol.. more bang for the buck especially in these harsh times..

Thought I might update this thread and say hi again to everyone. After much thought and consideration with the GF we've finally decided it was a better idea to get a little 2000 Reg, dark blue, Fabia 1.4 16V Comfort as her first car and my daily drive, and not the originally intended vRS..

Should be picking "Pawl" (Paul? the name my GF gave the car) either Saturday or Monday! Can't wait!! Now I can be a full singing and dancing Skoda owner =D

I know how you feel matey! I strayed from JapWorld (Honda Civic Type-R Ep3 and Skyline R34 GTT with an impressive yet expensive 12-24 mpg)

Now I can look forward to 40-50 mpg

yeah its refreshing when you get such high MPG! Been playing a game of how high I can get the MPG and currently its 35MPG in light town driving..

Annoyingly picked car up yesterday and last night when I went to pick up GF and friends a mini cab bumped into the back of it and chipped some paint! Lucky it was low speed but super annoyed!! I only picked it up at 5 yesterday and it already been bumped after a few hours of owning!! Stupid taxi driver! I was stationery in traffic and was in the same spot for a good 15-20 seconds before he decided to roll into me!!
