Nope, it's a 24v "leisure scooter" :D

Saved from my late uncle's garage, it's fun to tootle about on. Not really up to carrying my "ample" frame that far/fast though

Also, one of these turned up today:

Alpine CDE-9880R - CD Player

Another fine choice for some up-to-date retro :D

Should fit in well on the Mk3's dash...

Steve

I'd argue the 9880 as one of the best headunits ever!!

Picked because it was green and car stereo == Alpine. Basically :)

Read some good reviews, and you'd have to spend an awful lot more to get better sound from the unit. Speakers will improve it, and I've been researching putting a sub in the spare wheel well

Ah! I see it! :D

Droppeth ye penny!

So I assume Andrew that this will be joining in on some future Track Day events? ;)

  • Author

Possibly, need to roll my arches, I keep knocking on the driver's side on full lock!

Raising it is not an option!

Definitely.

Nice one!

And when do you use full lock on the track? Lame excuse :P

Whats next after the wheels then? :)

  • Author

True... but I've never driven on a track!

Not sure what's next. Probably get the rust on the wings and drivers door patched up so it's slightly more presentable. That might be it till next year, what with Christmas etc to pay for

Wheels have been picked up, and after two attempts, the standard BBS alloys are still on the car

First, the jack I had was rubbish, it kept lifting the back end of the jack up as the car is a lot stiffer than standard, which causes the car to move on the jack. So I resolved to get a better jack!

Got a wider, longer, low-entry jack today, got the car up fine, using the old jack to support the rear as jacking from the front causes the rear of the car to rise (these shocks are stiff!). However, wheels are seized on the hubs

No amounts of kicking would get them off, so the wheels will be taken down to my Dad's with me next weekend and we're gonna beat the hell of the BBS!

Did manage to get the stereo in, will iPod connection in the glovebox. Few scratches on my arms from the cage/dash beam but it's in! Looks good, and sounds very good even through 12-year-old factory speakers. Will be looking for some uprated ones at some point.

Pics to follow soon!

Ah well, some success then. Not worth leaving the hubs soaking in WD-40, or do you need the car back on the road to use this week?

I need to use it, unfortunately! :(

Shame; never had any that didn't eventually come off with a good bit of battering. Usually with a piece of wood across the face and a rubber mallet if necessary. That's usually the step after kicking the cr@p out of the tyre though :D

Yeah, first time it's been this stuck for me!

I just lack the tooling, unfortunately :(

And the rain! It's been pretty much non-stop this weekend which has blunted other attempts to get things fixed.

Sorry to read this buddy but sure once they are on the pics will be worth the wait........

Having done a few bits and pieces on people's cars and had nightmare times getting wheels off I have also invested in a rubber mallet and wood now for my detailing collection now........
