love the car buddy can i have a reputation point know lol p.s i will give you 2 ha ha

Try undoing all the bolts about 1 or 2 full turns then moving the car a few feet and braking, this may be enough to break the corrosion.

Hmm... could do!

Problem is light... but if the rain holds off I've got some flood lights

Having done a few bits and pieces on people's cars and had nightmare times getting wheels off I have also invested in a rubber mallet and wood now for my detailing collection now........

Good man!

Hope you've added a tub of copper slip too, for when they need to go back on again :)

Spacers and arch rolling next on the cards, methinks... after getting a sump-guard through a group buy on Ed38...

SWMBO is gonna kill me

This is true!

Indeed, I also find it to be the truth, the way, and the life

It was a "I'll take the cash, leave the wallet in the still-running car with SWMBO dialing '99' on her phone" type of scenario

It was like that when I went round to Grumpy's for the skip!

looking good mate, when you getting it charged then?:)

He's not that bad ;)

Erm... when I can afford it! Seems to be about £1500 for a decent kit, and it all looks like I could fit it myself like. I want to get a to 200bhp N/A first, so will be getting manifold and sports-cat, a better intake, Schrick manifold and some cams. Should see over 200bhp at that point :) But you're looking at £600 for a Schrick (2nd hand), £200 for cat, £200 for manifold, £300 () for cams, and £150 for an intake.

Big money for (fairly) minimal gains, I know (at least compared to turbo cars), but this is proper tuning. I imagine that Jason has spent far more on his mongrel!

And it's a damn good base for supercharging! Should see 250-260 with a stage one charger kit. Then you can add an intercooler, smaller pulley etc etc... nitrous...

I'd like to aim for 300bhp on a stage 3 supercharger system :)

cool,i keep looking at everyones build threads and keep thinking how quick they are coming along, then i look at mine and think damm all i have is a pile of very expensive parts i can't fit because i need another pile of very expensive parts:O

Aye mate!

More bad news today - got my exhaust adjusted, no longer banging on rear axel. However... while the car was up on a ramp we noticed some more "usual" Mk3 rot, around the random holes in the floorpan (why, VW, why!?). So they need welding up! And I'm gonna get my sills re-done as they've been crushed and are rotten!

Yay for old cars!

:(

Oh dear mate :(

Always baffles me why the mk3 rusts in more places than a mk2.

I would not bother with the Schrick manifold and cams as they dont give you and more power realy they just up the power band by 1000rpm. My highline had them before i got it and the owner was not impressed so they were removed and sold. The charger kits are normaly setup for a standard engine anyway so if you had the cams and inlet manifold you would still have to have it mapped.

Righteo... I'll have to dig around!

With your VR being a late one you will be over the standard 176bhp as all of the last produced had a upgraded map and most were around the 190bhp mark. Mine was running 203.4 with a airfilter, decat and exhaust so there sould be no reason you cannot get over 200bhp without the use of cams etc.

Did not know that!

I'll have to get it rolling roaded at some point
