Koni FSD Help

Featured Replies

I recently got a local garage to fit some FSDs to my Fabia and after doing up the one bolt that they forgot all seemed well.

However, i'm now getting various knocks and bangs from both the front and rear when going over speed bumps. I've checked the torque on all the nuts and the other usual suspects of ARB bushes and drop links are all fine.

One other thing I noticed at the rear is some black plastic covers below the bump stops (covering the top portion of the dampers) that ratlle around, should there be some sort of spacer fitted to stop this?

Anyone got ideas as to what may be causing the others bumps and bangs please it's driving me mad?

I bought the FSDs used off here so maybe they're knackered?

You would need to remove the rear shocks to check the top nuts are done up correctly,

On the fronts the top mount bearings are quite fragile and if yours are already worn then it could also be an issue.

Thanks for the reply.

The most worrying noise is from the front when coming off a speed bump, almost like an unrestrained opening of the spring - yet the dampers seem to pass a simple 'bounce test'.

Can the springs shift around on the top plate of the front dampers? I noticed the OEM ones have gone metal tabs to hold the springs in place but the Koni ones haven't.

Any view on the plastic covers on the rear dampers, should they rattle around - I'm guessing not?

I'm rather disappointed with my whole FSD experience so far :( and they'll be in the skip before much longer.

The black plastic covers at the rear should be attached to the bump stops.

The bump stops themselves normally fall to bits after a while, but are fairly cheap to replace. If the covers are rattling around and no longer connected, it sounds like this is what has happened.

i'd check the top mounts on the front like stu says above
