So who has used DTD?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am about to order my car through DTD but before I do, please can I have your comments on DTD......Good, bad or indifferent.

I live in North Linc and so my only concern is distance. Will the car be delivered on a trailer or driven to me? Can I pay to have it delivered on a trailer?

Many thanks

Phil

Aren't they delivered to the supplying dealer, like normal?

Hi Babs,

I believe they are but if the dealer is on the other side of the country I dont want it being thrashed, racking up miles to get to me....

Thanks

Give them a ring and ask

You'll have to go pick it up then, surely?

I bought the Fabia with D2D. Within a day or so of placing your order with them you will be contacted by the dealer and from there on in all your contact will be with the dealer as it would be if you had walked into the showroom. Don't know who the dealer is atm that supplies D2D so can't really comment on what your experience will be like but D2D where excellent. I collected the car when I bought mine as the dealer at the time was local, know of 1 or 2 who have travelled a fair distance to collect in person though, is there any info on the website as to how the car is delivered? Give them a ring, like I say D2D where very helpfull and efficient.

quite likely to be driven. Trailered delivery will be extra. Be fair on these guys delivering the cars they are professionals at what they do otherwise they would get no work.

Always wondered how many cars on transporters are damaged as they brush underneath tree branches.

I rang them (three years ago!) to ask similar questions as I came close to using them. I was told that most of the dealers are up north. Also, that you could choose to have it delivered by trailer. As I say, this is three years ago. The guy I spoke to was very helpful, so give them a ring.

I've just ordered my FL vRS from DTD, they placed the order with Marlborough in Isleworth (West London), which just happens to be my local dealer.

I've been witness to how some new cars are driven off the ferry here when delivered. Ringing the nuts off, doesn't describe it well enough! One in particular springs to mind. One of the first new Golf GTI's I remember seeing, was driven off the ferry like it was stolen.

Managed to get a local(ish) dealer in the end to agree to match DTD - paying £17,766 for the following spec....

Skoda Octavia VRS TSI estate in race blue

Bi-xenon headlights

Auto dimming rear view mirror with light assist

Front & rear parking sensors

Maxi-dot

MDI

Silver roof rails

Variable floor

Sunset glass

Heated front seats

Spare full size wheel

I think that is a good price :) What do you think? Have I missed any essential options?

Thanks again for all the advise.

That'll be the spec I go for in Jan/Feb next year. Which dealer did you go with ?

Not bad at all! :D

Not bad at all! :D

I've never heard of that dealership, where are they based then? :D

This is very interesting.

I am at the point of ordering my first Skoda: a FL vRS Hatch Diesel with the following:

Xenons

Front & rear parking sensors

Auto dimming rear view mirror & light assist

MDI

Maxi-dot

Heated seats

Curtain airbags

Spare wheel

The dealer price I have been quoted (by 2 dealers in the South West) is £18900 (give or take a few quid).

DtD have an online price of £17499 (plus £50 for spare wheel). Had a very interesting series of conversations with them yesterday as they couldn't process my order. Apparently the Skoda dealer they are using is refusing to take orders from them as he is concerned that the current lead-times for factory-orders is nearer 16 than 12 weeks. Therefore it puts him very close to the 31st December and the 'end' of the VAT-free offer.

Despite talking again to the 2 dealers in this part of the world and also to Skoda UK, all of whom confirm that the price you pay is the price you agree on at order (and deposit), DtD are stuck at the moment and cannot take my order.

Very helpful and friendly couple of people I spoke to, but nonetheless I'm stuck!

Anyone else had better luck? I'm also interested in which dealer pclarke79 has used. The two I have spoken to couldn't get close... this the first new car that I've bought, so a bit to learn yet I think.

I used Chathams in Edinburgh but i also got the same price from Delmores in Inverness.Lots of dealerships do free uk mainland delivery but if not you could always go away for a nice weekend and pick your new car up and save a grand or two at the same time.Just get on the phone to as many as possible and start playing them of each other. My 2 local dealers quoted me roughly the same price youve been quoted. They were the first 2 i phoned. Then on the 3rd call i quoted the DTD price and although they nevr quite matched the price they were £1500 less than the first 2.Sorry if this isnt making any sense as i do tend to rattle on a bit:cool:

Quick update:

DtD called back this afternoon and have accepted my order. Only caveat is that delivery times are now at 16+ weeks for the vRS. That puts it perilously close to 1st January when VAT goes up to 17.5% again. If that does happen, I would have to pay my agreed price PLUS the 2.5%.

I'm a happy man now.

Blimey I am glad I ordered a couple of weeks ago as it sounds like the order books filled up quickly!!

thankfully got my build week and hopefully if they have lots to ship it means delivery to the uk might not be so slow

Problem I can see with collection in person is if you turn up and the car is damaged, or something missing etc.. At least if its delievered you can reject it, however I'd preffer it to be trailed, rather surprised that its actually driven to your home!

I've yet to get a quote from any dealer, never call back or quote list price. Anyway, so we'll see.

My order is placed and have been told it will be 10-11 weeks. Dealer informed me today of this ;) Lets hope he is right. Sales guy seems to be very professional and knowledgable so far. Can't wait.....

My order is placed and have been told it will be 10-11 weeks

That's encouraging. That was what I was told by the dealers I have spoken to. Just waiting for the dealer to contact me tomorrow via DtD. Possibly the same one as pcclarke79? We'll see.

I accept that VRS orders will be popular but unless you have a weird spec I doubt time is up to 16 weeks, I ordered 1 week ago today and I've already had a build week confirmed in October which will be about 9 weeks.

Amended my order slightly today to include the leather seats....

We have a little one on the way and I just know the white bits on the chairs will not stay white that long :rotz: Seen some second hand VRS' and the chairs generally look slightly stained, with the webbing on the centres being easy to snag. Anyway, upgrade was little over £600 so worth it I recon.

So my spec now is as follows.....all for £18,400 on the road. List price is £22,600. Saving £4,200. Skoda's are great value compared to rivals!!!! My local dealer wanted £20k for this car. Pays to contact other dealers in the area....

Skoda Octavia VRS TSI estate in race blue

Bi-xenon headlights

Auto dimming rear view mirror with light assist and auto wipers

Front & rear parking sensors

Maxi-dot

MDI

Silver roof rails

Variable floor

Sunset glass

Heated front seats

Spare full size wheel

Black VRS leather

By the way, there does not appear to be an issue ordering the car with leather and heated seats.......remember seeing a comment to that effect on the forum somewhere.

might have to phone my dealer and see if I can get the order amended to include the leather then

I'm not a fan of heated seats..I always feel as if I have wet myself when they come on :)
