So who has used DTD?

Featured Replies

........£18,400 on the road. List price is £22,600. Saving £4,200. Skoda's are great value compared to rivals!!!! My local dealer wanted £20k for this car. Pays to contact other dealers in the area....

Was this a "scrappage scheme" or VAT-free promotion purchase through DTD, or just a normal transaction (no p/x?) with a hefty discount?

I'm not a fan of heated seats..I always feel as if I have wet myself when they come on :)

Well, I am going to miss them I reckon. If I had ordered in the winter time I guess I would have included them!!! Today, took SWMBO to work a 7am and it was a bit chilly so put them on, I sooo enjoyed that wet myself feeling:rofl:. tbh.. I also think it helps my lower back pains unlike the sports suspension I have!!

Back in March, bought my mother a Fabia 2 1.6 16v Tiptronic through DTD. No problems whatsoever, a 1st class service provided by the non-local Skoda dealership and I'd certainly recommend DTD to anyone. I was amazed how utterly useless and thoroughly lame the local dealership was as I'd have much preferred to have purchased from them to support the local enterprise and economy during these awful times. The car was driven to the delivery address rather than being transported, in my case about 60 miles, though I don't see this as a problem. I was offered the opportunity to collect the vehicle in person. My next car will be ordered from DTD as I really can't be arsed to argue over the odd £100 with an idiotic second-hand car salesman.

I thought about Drivethedeal and their website was discouraging about part-exchange. Has anyone used them and also managed a successful PX?

This is exactly what put me off using them the lack a PX facility. Unless you can do it with the dealer that they put you in contact with.

Hi gr8britwjh,

I managed to get this price from a local dealer by simply emailing them saying if they sell for DTD price the business is theres and I will order immediately. Other dealers in the area said they could not get close but one came good for me :-) Comes with 12months road tax, not the normal 6 months with DTD too....

Very happy and looking forward to my new car.

I've placed an order with DTD yesterday, so hoping they'll contact me Monday. Any ideas which dealer it will be??

Any ideas which dealer it will be??

Almost certainly Marlborough of London (Twickenham).

Sorry to seem dim but who are DtD? Can't find anything on Google

likewise, i got a dealer to match DtD (or they were very close - within the £100's... and they were able to give me a good part-ex price for a Leon... better than Seat could!)

Have used the dealer 3 times now and every time i've had a brilliant price, and brilliant customer care etc.... (every time they've been able to match / nearly match DtD)

Dealer was "Simpsons" Skoda in Colne (nr. Blackburn) - both Andrew and more recently, a young lady who's name completely escapes me(... louise or something!?) have both provided excellent assistance

Just processed my order, very helpful and polite people. Said its a 14week wait and if the car is not registered by the end of the year I'd have to pay the extra. So, its a gamble I'm gonna take, also they said the website is wrong with some of the options and they have updated it!

Will keep you all posted.

Refering to Loskie`s comment "be fair on these guys...they are professionals etc" on delivery drivers. They are professional only in the sense that they get paid for it, not how they do the job.(only some of them - I`d like to think- not all). In my previous employment, I had cause to deal with one such driver on the M18 doing 103 mph in a brand new Vauxhall being taken to a main dealer in Sheffield. I really hope VAG cars are not treated the same.

I've bought 3 cars through DTD and had excellent service on all occasions. They seem to have the best prices on many cars but can be beaten by other (also genuine) brokers for some cars. Similarly you can use the broker prices for leverage in you local dealer as reported above but invariably this depends on the dealer's need to shift cars at a hefty discount to make targets. The broker is obviously doing this to get the deals but they cannot factor in the trading needs of every dealer on every day - you may be in the right pace at the right time.

One significant advantage - If you don't like the heavy selling tactics in some showrooms a broker will give you a good price up front with no haggling required.

With DTD and many others you get your car from a main dealer with all the associated support. Your local dealer will still be glad to see you at servicing time so that he can charge those whopping prices for changing your oil!

I've collected my car once and had the other 2 transported to my house by trailer. The trailer option was so cheap that I couldn't get a train ticket to the dealer for less! On both occasions it was a single car trailer pulled behind another vehicle (hence the low cost). Unfortunately you still have to pay the standard delivery charge to the dealer as per the manufacturers prices. The dealer then completes the pre delivery work before passing the car on to you.

If you have a trade in concentrate on the price to change that your local dealer leaves you with. I have sold my old cars privately at a realistic price and beaten the dealer offer by some margin on all occasions.

As ever it is who is willing to do the deal that should get your money, and how much or who you pay should not influence the level of service you get. I would use DTD again without hesitation.

I have just checked the website and it hasnt been updated yet!:thumbdwn: they have certainly taken the time doing this, it was one of the things that put me off dealing with them, cos lets be honest they do give a "too good to be true" price. Shame.
