5* EuroNCAP rating for Yeti

Featured Replies

While this is good news, it should be noted that the Yeti received some NCAP safety assist points because "Electronic stability control is standard equipment on most variants throughout Europe and is an option on others. It is expected to be standard equipment in the great majority of sales so qualifies for points in Euro NCAP's assessment"

It looks like this will not be the case in the UK where it seems that only 4x4 Yetis and possibly even only Elegance 4x4 models will be fitted with ESC as standard. I understand that Skoda expects four-wheel-drive variants to account for 35% of Yeti sales in the UK.

I am very disappointed that the newest model in the Skoda range might not have this live-saving feature as standard in the UK when so many others in the VW stable do.

I hope it is not too late for Skoda UK to sort this out.

UK Skoda has a different brand to many European countries Skoda resellers.

In the UK it had a bad rep and is the "Value" brand so you might well miss some of the items. As long as it's available as an option I don't think it's the end of the world. After all ESP will help but you can't beat physics.

which is why insurance group starts at group 3!!! That's amazing for such a big car.

I understand the point you are making, but not sure yet if ESC (ESP) will even be an option on some models.

Does anyone have any information on this yet?

It's available on the SE for £80. I would expect it to be standard on all 4x4s and optional on all others, would be a bit strange if not "in this day and age"

The Yeti stands up very well to the crash tests though, and has plenty of airbags too.

Bare in mind that the requirements for a 5* car have just increased too...

Hope you are right about ESP being standard or optional on all UK Yetis.

And as you say, the Yeti did very well in the crash tests- even better than the already good Tiguan!
