What's That Springy Thing Then?

Featured Replies

Just changed the dipped beams on my Car.

Off Side front lamp had an extra spring type thing keeping the back attached.. with a kind of wound round loop on the end just finger sized and very tempting to pull (But I resisted).

It stopped me getting the back fully off, but I did still manage to change the bulb. I couldn't see where it went to past below the lamp though... Doesn't seem to have the same thing on the Near Side though.

What is it? Am I being rather dumb by not knowing?

Thanks.

Oh for the love of all that is holy, Never pull the offside headlight springy thing!

Seriously if you dislodge it's a PITA, But nothing bad will happen.:rofl:

I have just had a quick look on VAG-CAT and can't find that spring thing. I have wondered what it is.

I noticed another thing. I took off the N/S fog lamp cover (not the one with the tow hook) and found a rubber hose dangling down. I could not trace it, it's either a breather or a drain. What is it?

So why isn't there one on the passenger side lamp? Isn't it the same design just reversed?
