RNS510 transfer to Facelift vRS

Featured Replies

At the moment I have an Elegance to which I fitted a RNS510 purchased on ebay. I am awaiting a FL vRS and want to fit the unit in. Will everything function as before, will the parking sensors display (they don't now) etc? Also has anyone got any part numbers for facias for the facelift vRS?

Any help greatly received.

Will it all function - NO

RNS510 will still work fine, but will not integrate with Maxidot for things like Navigation, Phone book (if you have OEM Bluetooth).

Dont know about parking sensors

It is my understanding that the FL cars use BAP to communicate with the car. You would need to recode the unit to use BAP which is a two minute job.

It should work with your cluster, climate and park sensors. I only say should because I haven't tested this myself but I understand the principle.

Is that done through VAG?

If so, not sure it will work, as my dealer could not get it to work when they transferred my RNS510 over into my VRS LE, which has the facelift dashboard

Probably no point messing about with the dealer, just find a member near you with VCDS (formerly VAG-COM). The map of members with VCDS willing to help people is here. Looks like you've got smstext or WW_VRS near you. All they need to do is enable controller 37 (nav), then go into controller 37 (nav) and enable BAP.

Yes it's done in VAG-COM/VCDS. The dealer systems work in a different way and aren't as "low level" as VCDS and therefore some things are more difficult to achieve.

Part no for the new fascia is 1Z0 858 069 BK 2AU

Good luck

Will that get Navi working on maxidot?

Yes

Yes

Excellent

Do you know if it is possible to get the phone working in maxidot as well in the facelift? VRStu OEM version fitted that I removed from my MY08 VRS

They should have sorted the Nav for you as above Gary, the BT won't work afaik - You need a 729D interface for that.

Thanks for all the comments - Car arrives mid November with a bit of luck. Loads of time to get the trim sorted.

I have the code for the RNS510 trim for the pre facelift but the facelift is different, has anyone got the codes?

Soon to be a proud owner of a VRS CR170!

I think the part number for the Silver Columbus trim for the facelifted vRS is 1Z0 858 069 DK DF1. I will confirm this when i receive it next week. HTH

If you have the new climatronic unit in your FL octavia, then the part number is Part no for the new fascia is 1Z0 858 069 BK 2AU

Martin

I think the part number is different for the FL Octavia vRS because the trim is brushed Silver and not matt Silver.

Oops, my bad then Atty, I thought the FL VRS and the LE vrs were the same interior. Sorry about that.
