iPhone dock or seperate speakers

Featured Replies

I'm looking for an iPhone speaker setup. I will have it setup near the batroom so I can listen to music in the bath. I don't generally listen to much music in the house and therefore I don't really want to spend a fortune. Most decent docking speakrs for the iPhone are around £120, but I did think about just connecting some powered computer speaker to the headphone socket. What will be the difference in quality between the two and can anyone offer advice? Looking to spend £50 maximum really.

What about this...

I've just bought a Set of Logitech pure-fi anywhere II speakers. You can get them for about £70 off the Internet and the sound quality is really quite good. They're rechargable and portable and they recharge your iPod when plugged into the mains. They come with a remote control, euro plug adapter, and several iPod docking attachments. And also a travel case.

Trouble is, most of the docks are fully iphone compatable and you're not going to know which ones work or don't without trying. Personally, I'd go for a set of powered mini speakers as that's all the docks are really, just with an ipod socket built in.

i will second that, i have a brilliant set of speakers for my ipod, but iphone it doesnt like it. Same in the car the dock connector for my mp3 kit works fine with my ipod, but hates the iphone which means the only way to use these things is use a 3.5mm to 3.5mm lead and not dock connection.

Clue: it usually says on the box if it's compatible with Iphone or not. HTH

The Logitech above is fully compatible with iphone, and you can use the remote control, which you can't do with a 3.5mm connection.
