Felicia Removable sunroof

Featured Replies

It was brought to my attention in another thread about the ability to removed the sunroof from the Felicia by simply unclipping it.

I thought I would post here in case there were other people that might like to know about this little trick.

First open the sunroof then get a flat head screwdriver and press down on the little orange/red clip to unclip while pushing up on the sunroof glass:

Now go outside the car and lift the roof out while tilting it further forward to release the tabs at the front of it.... and Voila!

One open sunroof to enjoy the warm sunny weather with :cool:

Well I didn't alright! :P:O

Never seen it said anywhere else on the forum and never read through the hand book for car (it's probably in there isn't it?!!).

It promptly started to get wet just after taking that picture so I had to pop the roof back on. :thumbdwn:

Interestin to see the black anodized frame is peeling on yours too....mine`s now just white powder.

Any suggestions as to primer or type of Paint to refurb it ??

Yup! Think they all do it :thumbdwn:

The best way you're going to do that is mask it off really nice then wire brush it down.. then sand then I would think that some black hammerite would do the trick. That's what I plan to do anyway.

I also had a crazy thought today... what if I were to get my hands on one of those Polo 'open air' jobbies and transplant the roof across??!! That would be brill!

If it's aluminium, brush off the loose powdery corrosion, then apply an etching primer, not an ordinary one. Now recoat with ordinary primer, and then paint. I'd suggest painting with a near match Smoothrite (like Hammerite but dries smooth rather than "hammer finished") if you can get one.

That sunroof roof is the same as my mum used to have on her 1990 Fiesta - but without the corrosion!

Don't tighten the wheel too much when you close it or they jump off the thread on the wheel!

Nice picture based guide there Phil!!!

And those seats would go great in my Favorit!!!

I think you can use the ignition key (if your brave) to release the sunroof clip. I think I did it on occasions when I didn't have a screw driver to hand!

With the paint regarding the edge of the roof, sand it, mask all the way round and just use hammerite. I did this on mine and my sisters car.

THat's what we did on the fiesta...
