Water leaks into foot wells

Featured Replies

During the recent very wet weather I have had water leaking into the foot wells. It's mainly on the passenger but also happened once on the drivers side. This only happens when the car has been standing in heavy rain, usually overnight. When I first pull away water cascades from the upper right hand side of the footwells. It doesn't happen at any other time, I can drive through floods and monsoon like downpours and it doesn't happen.

Booked into local service agent on Monday. Also had two low coolant warnings in the last month. It obviously doesn't like water.smile.gif

Update 8/9/09

Garage phone yesterday to say that coolant warnings were due to a failing water pump and would need it for another day to fit it. Phoned again today; water pump fitted, water leak "traced" to a leak at the top edge of the windscreen and it would need to be removed and resealed, need it for another day! We'll see what tomorrow brings....

Update

Could be the sunroof drain, but plling away from a start would send the water rearward rather than into the front of the car.

Not entirely sure on the engine bay bulkhead layout on Roomsters but if its anything like a MkIII Golf then check around the pollen filter for leaf debris etc, as water in this area cascades into a Golf footwell !

Service agent removed and resealed windscreen. Now awaiting the next downpour!:)

Update 19/01/10. Many downpours since windscreen fixed and no leaks. However, took car in for 2nd service today and garage phoned soon after to say that Skoda were recommending that the windscreen be replaced! Anyone else had this?

Search the Fabia forum on this. Think there are some fine DIY guides on the doors.

I fixed all 4 doors on my Fabia 2003 by taking of the plastic doorcards, then the "metal doorcard" inside and reconnected it using silicon. :)

Afterwards my dealer said it was 5 year warranty on this in Norway.... :D

Another waterproblem with Fabia is that some draining channels are filled with leaf making water splash into the front footwell...

Edit - The drain holes in the doors sits under the door. Important to keep these clean, but usually the problem with Fabia is the inner doorcard leaking...
