Driver's door lock

Featured Replies

The driver's door lock on my Octavia Mk1 has just failed, leaving the key stuck in the lock at 45 degrees. Has anyone else had this problem, and do you know if Skoda can supply a single replacement lock. I spoke to my local Skoda dealer who are suggesting replacing all the locks (

Hi Paul:

The same lock on my W-reg Octavia estate jammed. I took the car to my local Skoda dept (Specialist Cars Skoda, Aberdeen) who said they were able to supply a single lock which woud be ordered from Skoda UK. (I had supplied them with the key identity so that the new lock would use the same key as before.)

The lock arrived and was fitted but it hadn't been "matched" to the other locks and I now had one key for the driver's door and another key for everything else.

I pointed out to Specialist Cars that this was most inconvenient and, to their credit, they re-ordered and fitted a lock which had been built to match the car's other locks and I'm back to one key for everything.

At no time was I told that it would be necessary to replace all locks.

Hope you find this useful.
