Clunking Sound and Best MPG?

Featured Replies

Hello,

Hope some fellow Roomster owners can help...

I have an '08 1.9tdi with only 10K. It has started making a clunking noise whenever i go over any rough patches of road. It sounds like a worn bushing around the front passenger side, though its hard to tell from inside the car. Seems strange for a 13 month old car with a low mileage. Has anyone else had a similar problem?

By the way whats the best mpg anyone has acheived? I recently managed 74mpg though it was a relatively short journey, not going above 45 mph.

Can't help you with the clunking noise but as for MPG...

My 08 1.9Tdi Scout on occasions has managed 68mpg on a short journey but more useful is the overall MPG since I've had it. It covers 15k miles of everyday motoring including some long motorway journeys and about 3k towing a 100kg caravan. I started a log as soon as it was delivered and checked it from full tank to full tank. Over that time it has averaged 47.17MPG. As my previous car (1.6petrol Suzuki SX4) only managed 35MPG at best I'm happy with the results.

My 1.9 clunks on poorly surfaced left hand bends, the noise comes up through the steering column and wheel. I've been to the dealers a few times with it, but as yet thet have not found anything, nor can they repeat what I hear. Trouble is it happens twice every day on the way to work. Still, it's been reported, so when something finally becomes obvious it should be a warranty job. If you get a reult on your noise, let me know....

Update: The Roomster was checked last week by our local Skoda dealer. The problem was found to be a faulty part on the front passenger side wishbone, and was replaced free of charge (and fully valeted) under the warranty. phew!

No clunking with ours but re mpg we got just over 45 mpg on a 300 mile round trip recently, 3-up, almost all motorway at the legal limit and calculated off a brim to brim fill.

Not bad for a 1.6 petrol RoomWagen I reckon.

My Mpg is in my sig.

Car mainly used for short trips in the week, and some longer journeys at the weekend.

Yes we had this clunking noise in our roomster and took it for the second service to the dealer who told us the bushings had to be replaced. I was surprised as it only has 25 km in nearly 2 years, its 2008. Does anyone know why bushing wear so quickly in the roomster, has the design anything to do with this?

Doubt it. What you need to remember is that your on a forum where people come to post problems so you might get a slightly out of perspective view of the number of issues.
