fabia vrs advice required

Featured Replies

i do about 65k a year, have a 90bhp xantia that ive owned since it had 49k on the clock, now has 295k on it, only ever had one problem with it and that was the aircon pump went.

It returned around 55-60 mpg average (all motorway miles)

Im looking at getting a car thats a bit more 'fun' as i do a few miles over weekends, is a vrs the car for me?

Driving at 55-60 mph behind a lorry, what sort of mpg would i return

Would it be possible to have a remap that i can use for sensible driving and stonking it at the weeken

Also, i heard that clutches cost a bomb to replace on fabias is this true

what is the cabin noise like at motorway speeds

do any of them come with xenon head lights

what alternatives are there? Citroen c2 vts hdi seems a laugh, and similar cars worth consideration?

Thanks for reading and hopefully replies

If you can normally get 55 to 60 out of an XUDT, you'll can get similar out of a 1.9TDi, even the 130.

The 130 is very remappable, and some of the maps and real tuning boxes (Tunit, Van Aaken and the like, not the sub £50 Fleabay resistors [do a search]) are switchable.

indeed, you should be able to make that mpg, and the map wouldn't hurt the fuel at all, maybe even improve it a little when driven gently, and will give you the "fun" factor at the weekend.....

when I had my vRS I was doing approx 45k a year, only thing that bugged me at those miles was the 10k service intervals (18k on the fiat now...) but many vRS's on here are over 100k without too many issues.....

I get 70mpg (according to the computer.......yes I know) doing that, going the 30 miles to work.

yes you can get them with Xenons

the clutches are ok if they aren't hammered or abused by an excessive remap torque, and they only tend to be expensive if the flywheel (DMF) fails

cabin noise is ok in 6th at motorway speeds , but that also possibly tends to depend on what tyres are fitted , standard fit contis or bridgestones can be very noisy , esp when worn
