European headlight setting

Featured Replies

I went to France last week and used the headlight levers to change to the continental setting. I expected it to only affect the dipped beam but on main beam the left-hand light has a nasty shadow which I can only describe as looking like a black bar extending from the far left to half way across the front of the car.

Has anyone else tried setting the lights for continental driving please? I'm trying to find out if it's normal before I decide whether to do anything about it. I might not bother because it's rare I have to drive in the dark when on holiday because it's light so late over there but if it is just mine I might mention it when it goes in for service.

Take out the headlights and do it properly using the beam adjustment slide.

There's a guide which will help you. Takes 15min many say.

Thanks where I find that guide please? And would it alter the normal settings for driving on the left because they are fine over here?

I've now got it but I don't think the Roomster has similar headlights. The guide seems to indicate that you remove the headlight to get to the conversion lever while my roomster has it just inside the rubber cover. I'll have a look at it but I think it's something to mention when it goes for a service.

I'm not too bothered as our french holidays are over for this year and we rarely drive in the dark over there so it isn't a major problem.

But thanks for trying.

If you would like to help ours by doing a guide, we can add it to the correct section to assist others in future.

I was sure I had seen it in the manual but can't find it now. It was my dealer who showed me when I asked where the sticky patches had to go.

You remove the rubber cover from the inside of the headlight assembly and there is a very obvious silver coloured lever just inside it. For driving on the left, push the lever down. Lift it up for driving on the right. I don't know about cars built for countries where they drive on the right but I assume the opposite procedure is used.
