Hi

Just wondering if anyone can tell me where the spare siren battery is located that is supposed to be replaced every 60 months(according to the service manual) on my 2001 1.9tdi fabia. I can't find anything on this excellent site except that it may be next to the exhaust near the fuel tank on the left. Is it hard to remove and what is the spec of the battery and do I need to take any special precautions before I remove it?

I asked about this as mine is up for its fifth inspection service, and the suggestion seemed to be that it was actually referring to the batteries in the remote fobs. While the siren will have a backup battery of its own, an enquiry about the backup battery on one of the other security devices I have on my car led to me being told that the service life on the battery in the device in question had been raised from three years to ten... :ne_nau:

I was given the info about it being the battery in the fob from a reliable source though, and it wouldn't surprise me if Skoda expected people getting their cars serviced at dealers so long after the warranty had expired to be happy to have a mechanic charging 50 quid an hour change the batteries in their remotes...

i got told it was the fob battery aswell
