Car Insurance

Does anyone know of any good insurance companies?

The reason I ask is because I just received my insurance renewal and its up by almost £200.00 :rotz:

Last year I had 7 years no claims bonus and managed to get a deal with Swinton Insurance for just over £500 for fully comp. I have had no accidents or claims this year and thought the renewal would be close to what it was last year.

When I obtained my renewal notice I was shocked when they said their most competitive quote was in the region of £730.00 for my 8 year old Skoda Fabia Elegance 1.4 16V / 100bhp.

I've looked around and found a few quotes in the region of £630.

Just thought if anyone has had a good offer they could let me know the name of the insurance company so I could see what quotes I get.

Jesus! I'm paying that on my fire-breathing monster!

That seems a bit steep! Try the comparison sites, and then use quidco to get cash back from the cheapest provider.

Mine is £300, 9+ NCB, 1 accident on my wifes insurance and 27. Oh and mines a VRS

Thats with Sky on here, but lots of factors. My car is on the drive in an RG postcode

do you live in beirut? something aint rite...my vrs with ncb is £295

The answer is simple, shop around, there are a couple of comparison sites to get an idea what you shuld be paying but also the old fashioned way off phoning around and seeing if they can beat your online quotes. You should be doing this every year.

Thanks for your responses to my enquiry.

It looks like it is a post code lottery regarding car insurance. I entered the same details on comparison sites for my own Manchester 'M' postcode and a friends postcode. At a friends home I could get insured for around £300-£350, whereas with my postcode it was £600-£800. It must be classed as a high risk area!

I tried all the well known comparison websites and Quotea. I also tried independant insurance companies such as Admiral, More Than, Direct Line, Aviva, Churchill, Endsleigh, Privilege and CIS plus numerous others.

The best offer I received was from LloydsTSB which came out at £579.60. So I have signed up for that policy.

Ah mate, try having a Liverpool postcode, it's ridiculous! I tried Adrian Flux after seeing some of you lucky guys on here paying something stupid like £200 a year for modded up beasts! My car is completely standard and the cheapest Flux could do it was about £900! I was like WTF?! I'm currently paying £600 a year with Halifax, that's with 6 years NCB. I wouldn't mind if I lived in a bad part of Liverpool, but I live out in the leafy suburbs!
