boot drips on opening after rain

Featured Replies

my 07 vrs hatch often drips water into the boot and somtimes onto the rear seats when i open the boot. This usually happens when there has been lots of rain and there is a fair amount of water on the rear screen. Its as thought the channels on the boot seals cant cope with the volume of water and it spills over. Anyone have this problem/ advice on it. The car is still under warranty.

Cheers

Dan

Yes also. The MK1 and MK2 Octy have this problem.Usually i open the tailgate slowly to let the water run off before fully open as i did with the MK1 also. Some owners with MK1,s put a drop of sealant at either end of the bottom of the back tailgate glass to stop the water running of ends.Personally i wouldn,t do that.I don,t think there is a cure for this as all are designed like this.

Sadly nearly all modern cars suffer from this due to the seemless glass over metal designing.

You'll soon learn the art of opening slightly before lifting fully.

cheers guys....i guess i will have to be more stealthy and less impatient in future although not always possible when legging it about at work. I could always go for a quick blast down the road before opening, unless its raining of course:rofl:.....which it does in Manchester.... a lot:mad:

The Octy estate doesn't suffer from the same problem :P:D

I found after waxing my bootlid, this problem occurs due to the puddles forming on top of the paintwork. When the bootlid was unwaxed didn't notice the problem. :)
