DiRT 2

Featured Replies

One for the gamers out there.

If your looking for the next driving game (PC/360/PS3), this could be the one, its cracking.

That said, NFS:Shift comes out next week, and Forza 3 in a couple of weeks. Expect to see a lot of me on the xbox if your on my friends list :D

Will be getting both DIRT:2 and NFS: shift for the PC.

They look pretty cool and really enjoyed the first Dirt game.

Tried the dirt 2 demo and it put me off. Although the graphics are lovely, the cars seemed to handle as though they had no rear end grip at all. Maybe this was ironed out for the final release, but I don't fancy spending the money to find out.

Handling on NFS: Shift looks dire too looking at the vids, just silly. Can't wait for Forza 3 though. I've bought a wireless adapter and will be re-activating my Live account ready for it. Haven't been on live in a couple of years.

I wasn't impresssed by the handling on the demo either - it felt stodgy and disconnected from the road. The needlessly flashy and long-winded menu systems put me off too. After spending some time playing the original and balking at 'go get 'em tiger' and 'we were the best because we were the fastest!' I'm probably going to give this one a miss :)

They are definitely twitchy, and every now and again i end up swearing because i've spun it, but its certainly not enough to put me off.

Not really liking the Baja cars though, every bounc seems to end in my car pointing in a random direction.

Pre ordered this, played the demo and was'nt to impressed but thought id wait to see how the game was. Over all it's a good game, yeah the cars are abit tail happy some more then others, graphics are good and there is some nice touches. Part of me wishes it was a bit more of a sim and more hardcore rally game but supose it has to try and apeal to everyone which i think it does well.

ooo DiRT2 is a Colin Mcrae game so that should mean the Skoda Fabia WRC is in it.

Can anyone confirm this?

Not seen a single Skoda in it.

Yeah, found DIRT2 to be quite bland and samey. Ho-hum, on to Forza3!

I had a bit of a pop on DiRT2 in HMV last night... looks good but i couldnt get my head round the handling... too drifty..

Also tried NFS:Shift.... its awesome :D

the demo left me a bit "meh" too - i remember the demo of the first one being all over the place but enjoyed the actual game when purchased for a fiver.

Should be called.

There's a video interview with one of the developers on xbox live including somethign along the lines of "it continues the legacy of the great man including the vehicles he raced and helped develop following his retirement from the WRC; as well including event echoing the charity event held by his family"

or as i heard it "blah blah blah blah"

Hve to say i bit the bullet and bought this (well it was between this and beatles rock band lol)

Now ive got used to the car handling its actually really good fun

Played the D2 demo with high hopes, but came away disappointed. Big wide stages designed for multiplayer, bouncy baha trucks, and annoying american shouting / ott presentation.

Dug out D1, tight tarmac rally stages, pace notes not "yeeha's", and classic rally machinery - so much better!

NFS:Shift looks interesting, it's been downhill since NFS2 imo. I've never really connected with Forza 1 or 2 as much as the GT series, but F3 does look bloody lovely, and there is a Mini in the demo :D

Yeah.. i do agree... its a case of Arkham asylum, where the demo doesnt really give a fair representation of the game... there are ye-old-styleee rally stages amongst it all but they have been played down for the baha/raid truck stuff.

F3 will be the most awesome game ever.. :D (until MW2 lol)

Shift is getting pretty good reviews though.. it has some of the developers from sinbin on board, and it has definately nailed the sensation of speed.. and crashing  gimmicks maybe, but ill pass judgement as the game will be on my doormat when i get back from the 'ring on tuesday

Well, if your looking for a car game, please, please try the demo of NFS:Shift before buying it.

I completed Dirt2 in 9 days, and couldn't put the game down, yet NFS is a completely different beast.

Dirt2 has cars that are slightly loose at the rear, probably to make them chuckable, NFS has bricks on wheels. It works if you have a wheel, or if your really gentle with the controls, but for me the driving has been sh##e. I had to race a Veyron round the 'ring, and it was just laughable, too fast to control, and it bumped everywhere.

Dirt2 was a 8/10 for me, NFS is a 6/10.

I did not lke the DiRT 2 Demo so I brought Ned for speed shi(f)t. I must say I am not that impressed with it. I think play it for as long as I can be bothered and then I'll swap it for Fifa 10 when that comes out in a week or so.

i like it, but im floating between 4/5 games atm so not had a realy good go at it.

add me to your 360 friends list if any one fancys a race ;)

Not tried any driving games since PGR4 / Forza2 as they are all getting very much samey. I am now into the music games, and currently GH5 and Beatles rockband are what I am playing the most.

If anyone want to add me then my gamertag is mannyo1221

am starting to get into NFS Shift too..

thought the handling was very very odd at first... but figured out that its actually much much better with all the assists turned off...

Is there a 360 demo of Shift?

I'm loving Dirt 2! The rally stages are really good fun, with the speed and verbal pace notes.

I'm pretty crap at controlling the baja stuff, but I think that's how it's supposed to be! I like the damage system, and the handling.

Not unlocked any extra cars yet, and I don't know if you can. But I did hear of a Forge sponsored Ford RS200 in the game. Not seen that yet. Anyone confirm?
