Help needed identifying alternator

Featured Replies

I have removed the alternator from my wife's Fabia 1.9SDI - the car has just broken its second aux belt tensioner (it has also managed to unscrew said item a further twice, in one case dropping the tensioner somewhere on the road) due to excessive tensioning activity! When the engine is running - the damn thing was bobbing up and down like a demented woodpecker

The alternator bearings are rumbling - the bushes are down to minimum (5mm),and the slip rings have seen better days - time to renew / exchange.

However, I cannot identify the damn thing by size / amperage - checking with the local Sparshatts - that lets me know that there are potentially four different alternators. There are no markings on the exterior of the unit / nothing identifiable on the brush box. There are any number of sizes advertised on E-Bay - including 55A, 75A, 90A, 120A

How do I tell which size is fitted - anyone? Please ....... :o

Give your engine code a dealer, They should know which one you require.

Thanks chrisw880 - sorry about the kitten - I tried searching using every term - except of course, the right one.
