speaker help please....

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I've just finished construction of a stealth shelf for my furby. Am waiting for Maplins to get their act together and get my covering cloth in so I can finish it. I am EXTREMELY pleased with how well the construct went. Took it uncovered for a test drive today and am delighted to announce there were no squeaks and rattle because it fits so well.

I wish to splice into the existing speaker cables to connect a pair of plug connectors to the existing wiring them so I can remove my shelf when boot space is needed and pop original back in, then I can just plug in the oem connector back into the cars own speakers. I just need to know which wires are the positive connections and which are negative.

There must be somebody with a list of the eight different coloured wires and which connections they correspond to.

do you have a multimeter ?

I do have an old fashioned multimeter but I'm a little ashamed to say I don't really know how to work it... A mate gave it to me years ago. Its kicking around in the shed somewhere I think but as far as I know it is functional... If you can talk me through it I'd be grateful...

Could you not get some spade connectors to fit into the existing connection plugs spades? Rather than splice them?

does it have ohms measurement for resistance ?

if it does connect your wires and if it gives a reading of around 4ohms you have them in the correct orientarion, if its -4ohms then they are the wrong way around
