Renault not contesting "staged crash" charge

Featured Replies

Utter crap.

Still, Flav got his life ban from the sport so every cloud....

Wonder where that leaves Alfonso and his move to Ferrari?

Total whitewash. If it was a team that didn't make engines (McLaren etc) they'd have banned them forever. But they can't afford to lose a team that does, so this is the result. McLaren get caught with someone else's drawings and get a $100m fine, Renault didn't actually do anything other than blame the two employees acting on their beahlf and despite risking the safety of drivers, stewards and fans they get a token punishment which will never be pursued. Utter ******.

Couldn't agree more. An absolute and utter utter disgrace. Beggers belief this judgement.

They should have been banned for ever imo.

Won't miss Flav but Pat Symonds is a good guy. Been listening to the wrong people methinks. 5 years is a long time to be out of the sport...if there's a sport to go back to.

Absolutly agree.

:rotz: Quite how the can justify this NON PUNISHMENT after the Mclaren saga is beyond any normal thinking.

Why no fine, no manufacturers point deductions  & a short period ban from racing

On the up side Flavio looks like he might get kicked out of QPR under the fit & proper persons rule:cool:

Not just the comparison between McLaren & Renault, but also with what happened to Toyota in 1990s.

As for "risking lives", I'm more concerned for the other 19 drivers, and for the circuit marshals than fro Nelsinho. If he wants to jump out of an aeroplane at 25_000 feet with no parachute because Flav tells him to, he can; just make sure there's no-one in the Probable Impact Area when he does it! ;)

Oh dear how sad.

....and the poison dwarf Eccleston reckons the two goons were treated too harshly!!

Give me bloody strength. The pair of them have got off virtually scott free with potential murder!

So has Renault!

The only person that'd have been in the room as Wittness X would either be Alonso, his or Piquets race engineer, or 2nd in line from Symmonds.

I know who my money's on....

Something still doesn't smell completely right. Symonds said he regretted not dismissing the whole idea when Piquet first suggested it to him - that sounds like a very different perspective than some down trodden driver being ordered to crash.

The whole thing is farcical compared to how McLaren were treated. At the very least Renault should have all their points for this season stripped (along with the financial penalties that brings) together with the status of being located last in the pit lane for next season. Glad their sponsors have done the right thing and not condoned their cheating.

and the new driver crashes in the same place.....fishy !

Anyone else watching this Bernie interview? God it's painful...

Ask Max... great answer!

LOL at Eddie trying to pull a joke that Barrichello 'pulled a piquet'
