Stick-on Wheel Weights

Featured Replies

Had some new tyres put on the vRS today, Goodyear eagle GS-D3s.

What's the best way to remove the old wheel weight's adhesive/sponge backing from the inner part of the wheels without damaging the surface? WD40 is good for old selotape adhesive but would it work as well on this?

Thanks

TFR or some other cleaner like that on a soft cloth

Autoglym Intensive Tar Sport Remover would get rid of it easily enough. Might be worth getting some wheels sealant on there whilst the wheels are off to stop brake dust etc. sticking in the future.

Didnt the garage do it when they balanced the wheels?

Most tyre places just rip the old weights off leaving the sticky backing on the wheel. Lazy blighters.

Autoglym did the job just fine.

And yes, most tyre places leave the backing on when balancing new tyres!
