Skoda Fabia I owners - BEWARE!!

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Just to let you all know a useful information!

I spoke to the Skoda mechanics back home in Slovakia (where Skoda cars have been manufactured for a long time) with my car problems and they let me on a 'little secret'...

Apparently they have now identified that Skoda Fabia I has got a fundamental problem regarding the wiring. They told me that they have issued this knowledge to all Skoda garages so any service centre should know this, however, they were not sure if that was the same for garages in the UK too.

So check with yours!

The problem is that the bunch of earth wires that are located under the steering wheel and lead to the engine etc get very easily damaged and worn out and can create all sorts of electrical problems. They said that was a very wide and common problem with the cars with electrical faults. So if you have any electrical problems please check all your wiring first before replacing any parts in your car (eg ABS unit, pumps, sensors etc).

I thought I would pass this knowledge on and hopefully it will help you not to fork out loads of money for parts that you might not need....

Good luck! :)

very helpfull thanks

could these be affected by moving the steering column lots?
