Vag Com, I must be stupid

Featured Replies

I cannt figure this out at all. I do searches on how to set the doors to lock when moving and get stuff like got to channel 10 controller 12 and set this to whatever.

I have had a few goes at using this software and find it all making no sense. Im quite ok on computers but never had so much problems with a piece of software. The UI is vague and not user friendly. Im nearly going to throw my cable in the bin.

Has anyone done a proper manual for this or do i use Ross wiki which seems to be also only 15% complete.

There is no definitive guide as it is not really designed for the casual user and the car has a fair few computers in it rather than just one central system.

Once you get to grips with it is is fairly easy to do.

The stuff for doors is in central convenience which is controller 46. The changable settings are in adaptation and once you get to door lock (it will say so rather than you having to guess) it uses simple binary of 1 for on and 0 for off.

If you think this is a pain try figuring out all the stuff on the CAN-BUS cars.

There is a manual to download on the Ross-Tech website.

Take a look here Ross-Tech: VCDS Tour

Do you have a new official Ross-Tech cable?

  • Author

Its not a new cable but is a ross tech one i bought 2nd hand. When i do the connection thing at the start it all says its working but nothing apart from that

What does it say on the cable? HEX+CAN or similar?

  • Author

It says KEY-USB, Dual-K Vag-Com, Dongle Interface, KC152953 Rev C.,

In that case you should be OK using 908.. do you have an aftermarket stereo?

I do have a cheap Ripspeed one i got in Halfords, wanted a USB connection for music.

Try removing the radio or pulling the radio fuse.

I pulled the fuse for the radio but get the same error, dam.

The Halfords stereo may be sending voltage down the K-Line which is the wire that the car uses to communicate with control modules. While pulling the fuse should turn the radio off it's worth disconnecting it altogether and giving it another go

When i have the stereo out could i disconnect the k-line to avoid this problem in the future. Its not easy getting the stereo back in as the mountain of wires it comes with.

Might link up my front and rear cameras at the same time.

Thanks for all the help.

Had a look around and am going to first take out the stereo and make sure vag-com works, once all is good ill modify the harness to remove the k-line.

Thank you to everyone for all the help.
