Bluetooth on FL VRS

Featured Replies

What does the factory fit Bluetooth (£480) give you over say a Parrot kit fitted by Halfords

Both are wired into the car's sound system, is their anymore functionality?

Also I have just got a new Nokia 5800. This is not listed in the Skoda brochure as a phone that works with the Octavia. However the phone only came onto the market after the brochure went to print.

Has anyone got Nokia 5800 and FL Octy with bluetooth?

The face lifted Octavia bluetooth is the same as in the Superb. ie it uses RSAP or remote sim access, so you'll need a phone with RSAP functionality.

Basically, the car becomes the phone and just utilises your sim card. When the phone is connected, you can't do anything with it. The car has basic phone functions and stores your phone book, which can be accessed through the maxi-dot or on the touch screen display. If you get a text message, it shows in the maxi-dot, but is not saved in your phone, unless you save it to the sim card.

To be honest I prefer the old system that just acted as a hands free kit and still gave full access to your phones features, but that's progress for you!

Does the official Skoda Bluetooth (240.01 on Skoda's website) do the same thing? It seems to add buttons to a unit to go by the rear view mirror. Or is this the kit the same As the OEM kit people are fitting?

Well I spoke to SUK today and although polite and helpful, I'm no further forward.

All they would say its not on the latest list.

If a rSAP phone is used can the sat nav facility on the phone still be used while connected to the cars bluetooth
