Why can't Claybank Motors sort something out first time?

Featured Replies

My vRS went into Claybank Motors, Manchester on Tuesday to sort out the windscreen washers which were blocked from arsehole to breakfast time.

The car is a company car so I have to use Skoda dealers and can't buy the parts and do it myself.

I told them that I'd already had the jets off, flushed the system and tried to clear the jets with no luck.

They had the car all day.

I collected the car in the evening and all seemed fine.

Until yesterday when the right hand side one stopped working again.

Now I'll call them tomorrow to see what they can do but I'm rather miffed as it means another disrupted day at work and I need it sorted as I'm down in bloody Stevenage next week.

I don't fancy driving 300miles on a motorway with defective washers - I've a feeling it's illegal too!

I wonder if they'll give me a hire car?

Rant over.

It looks like my next car will not be another Skoda as I'd hoped as all the dealers near to me appear to be feckless.

They are fecking miles away! I live between Warrington and Manchester (Lymm).

It's a bit of a sweeping statement against all dealers in the North West then!

Manchester != The North West

Other than its very first oil change and a service that included some warranty work, mine has never seen a dealer's workshop. I don't know whether Gorner's closure was the chicken or the egg, though. Surely if it's a company car, it should be up to the leasing company to arrange repairs and servicing, and to provide another car while it's away...?

And there's more than one dealer in Manchester

I didn't want to just put Claybank in the title as it would have been vaped by the mods and so I put NW to narrow the field.

I think the other Manchester dealer to which you refer may get a call come the next service. Why didn't you open a franchise in Warrington/Widness/Northwich?

Would you collect the car from Lymm as Claybank couldn't unless I gave 5 weeks notice. If you come and get it tomorrow and sort out the washers, I'll even let you MOT it next year! I might even get a CR TDI as well :D

I thought Horner's just did Mitsis now?

I take our Audi to Awesome GTi and they are pretty good. Like I said, I have to take my car to an official dealer otherwise it would go there.

Parkside in Bolton have a superb reputation, try them next time:thumbup:

Well it's going back in at lunchtime for them to have a look at it. At least they are accepting my frustration and trying to put it right quickly.

Are you using the special softened washer fluid from VAG dealers or the generic stuff that you get from Halfords/Garage forecourts....??

Cos if it aint the dealer supplied stuff then there is every chance that is causing the problem in the first place.

I've never bought into this - one time it's mentioned, it's because of anti-foam; the next time it's because of water softeners. Neither of ours have had 'genuine' stuff in for a combined total of nearly 14 years, with no issues whatsoever with the fan jets or freezing...

I'm sure the residents of the City of Salford will be happy to hear of your ignorance...

They'll not be on here, they'll all be in 'The Jockey' with Frank having a pint and 2 Eeees!:D

(I do work in Salford, so I'm fully aware of it's location)

Why not put Claybank in the title  - if they've given poor service, tell people about it.

I've found them to be dreadful in the past too, if that makes you feel any better. And I've written about it in the dealer reviews section. But I've also written about good service from Simpsons in Colne :)

Well another new jet on and a good flush through. Hope that's fixed it.

I hope the staff enjoyed their chips. The smell that was left in the car made me really hungry!

Title editted ;)

Parkside in Bolton have a superb reputation,

Oh Ive never seen one of them, is it like an elegance?

;)

I hope noting serious ever goes wrong for the OP.

Putting the toys back in the pram would be one hell of a job.

Oh I expect perfection at all times :D

The frustration was that if it had have been something serious and something simple takes two visits to sort out....

Don't get me started on Mitchells by the way ;)
